These are genuine Sennheiser replacement foam disks that sit inside the ear pads of the HD 25 monitoring headphone, supplied as one pair. The foam disks protect the drivers from dust and debris while shaping the acoustic behavior behind the ear cushion. They are an inexpensive consumable for keeping HD 25 units in DJ booths, broadcast facilities, and studios performing as designed.
Product Description
The Sennheiser 578879 foam disks are the thin foam inserts that fit behind the HD 25 ear pads, in front of the driver. They serve two purposes: protecting the driver diaphragm from dust and debris, and contributing to the headphone's intended acoustic response. Over time these disks can tear, compress, or fall out when pads are changed, so they are stocked as a low-cost spare. The disks are extremely light, listed at around 0.1 gram each, and are compatible with the HD 25, HD 25 Light, and HD 25 Plus. They install by hand inside the ear pad assembly with no tools, which makes them a quick addition whenever a technician replaces or services HD 25 cushions. Because they are the manufacturer part, they are sized correctly for the HD 25 cup and will not interfere with the seal of the ear pad. 
Keeping a few pairs on hand alongside spare ear pads simplifies HD 25 fleet maintenance.
