An XtendPoint deployment separates the operator from the computer: the transmitter sits with the host system in a secure equipment room, the receiver sits at the operator desk, and the two communicate over an IP network. Transceivers are ordered per terminated port, so a point-to-point fiber link between one transmitter and one receiver normally takes two of this part, and a switched deployment takes one per appliance plus one per switch port.
