What is the RDL ST-PD5U?
The RDL ST-PD5U distributes 24 Vdc from a single current-limited switching power supply to up to five RDL modules. It prevents the start-up shutdowns that switching supplies can suffer when a high-current capacitive load is connected.
How does it work?
On power-up, the ST-PD5U ramps the voltage up to charge load capacitance quickly, then switches full voltage to the load, and it disconnects the load if reverse polarity is applied until the condition is corrected. Total load current across the five outputs must not exceed 2 A, and POWER and FAULT LEDs show supply status and overloads. Use one ST-PD5U for floating modules and a separate unit for ground-referenced modules, as RDL advises against mixing them. RDL recommends the RDL PS-24V3 or RDL PS-24V3A supply, and the module mounts with the RDL MB-1 or RDL SR-4.
