What is the RDL SF-XMN4?

The RDL SF-XMN4 is a SysFlex four-channel microphone to Dante interface that converts four XLR mic inputs to Dante network channels. Each input has switch-selectable gain, P48 phantom power and a dual-LED VU meter, and the unit is powered by PoE from the network switch. Its all-metal SysFlex enclosure can stand free, mount to a surface or mount in a rack, which makes it a practical Dante mic interface for fixed commercial installs.

How does it work?

RDL SF-XMN4 SysFlex four-channel microphone to Dante interface

Each XLR input has a switch that sets mic gain to 40 dB, 48 dB or 62 dB for dynamic or condenser microphones. A dual-LED VU meter shows the level on every input so the correct gain range can be chosen without a computer. P48 phantom power is supplied to each microphone input, and discrete mic preamplifiers provide low-noise, studio-quality pickup. The four inputs become four Dante transmit channels at 24 bits, with sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz or 96 kHz. The SF-XMN4 is powered by PoE Class 0 (IEEE 802.3af), so no local power supply is needed. A green front-panel LED confirms valid PoE power and Dante sync. SysFlex mounting accessories include the RDL SF-RA1 rack adapter, the SF-UCB2 under-counter bracket pair and the SF-MSM1 microphone stand mount. The unit is engineered and built in the U.S.A. for continuous duty.

What are the key features?

  • Four mic inputs to Dante — Converts four XLR microphones to four Dante transmit channels.
  • Switch-selectable gain — Each input offers 40 dB, 48 dB or 62 dB of gain for dynamic or condenser mics.
  • P48 phantom power — Phantom power is supplied on every microphone input.
  • Dual-LED VU meters — Per-input metering makes gain setting quick and accurate.
  • No software required — All setup is done with on-board switches.
  • PoE powered — Runs on PoE Class 0 (IEEE 802.3af) with no external supply.
  • SysFlex mounting — Free-standing, surface or rack mounting with SysFlex accessories.
  • Up to 96 kHz — Supports 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bits.

Where is it typically used?

  • Conference room
  • Boardroom
  • Auditorium
  • House of worship

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need software to set it up?

No. Gain is set with switches on each input, guided by the dual-LED VU meters.

How is it powered?

By PoE Class 0 (IEEE 802.3af) from the network switch. RDL lists PoE as its power source.

Can it be rack mounted?

Yes. It is equipped for SysFlex rack mounting with the SF-RA1 rack adapter, or for surface mounting.

How does it differ from the AV-XMN4?

The SF-XMN4 is a PoE-powered SysFlex module for rack or surface mounting. The AV-XMN4 adds an external 24 Vdc power option and an etherCON connector in an AV-PAK enclosure.

Does it supply phantom power?

Yes. P48 phantom power is supplied to each microphone input.

What warranty does it carry?

This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
