What is the RDL RU-VDA4B?
The RDL RU-VDA4B is a 1x4 composite video distribution amplifier with BNC connections for sending one NTSC or PAL source to four displays or recorders. Front-panel gain adjustment and a 1 V signal indicator make it easy to set correct levels over long cable runs. Its 1/3-rack RACK-UP format allows high-density rack mounting.
How does it work?
Video inputs and outputs are made on front-panel BNC jacks, and power connects through full-size barrier block terminals on the rear panel. The input stage has two jacks: one for the incoming signal and a LOOP OUT that passes the source signal on to other equipment. The input is bridging, so if 75 Ω termination is required, the terminator plugs onto the LOOP OUT jack. Four amplified outputs each deliver 1 V p-p into 75 Ω. A front-panel GAIN potentiometer adjusts gain from -1 dB to +7 dB (0.9 to 2.25 V p-p), helping compensate for cable loss. Frequency response is 10 Hz to 10 MHz (±0.2 dB), with differential gain and phase of 0.1% and 0.1 degree and output isolation greater than 40 dB. The module runs from ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 60 mA; RDL recommends the PS-24AS (USA) or PS-24AX (international), not included. Mount it with the RC-1UR 1RU rack chassis, RU-HRA1 10.4-inch rack mount or RU-SMA1 surface mounting plate.
