What is the RDL RU-VCA2A?
The RDL RU-VCA2A is a studio-quality dual-channel attenuator for local or remote level control of balanced or unbalanced line-level audio. Levels change in 0.5 dB steps across a 96 dB range using noiseless zero-crossing digital attenuators for click-free adjustment. It can be controlled from front-panel pushbuttons, RDL remote controls, momentary pulses, a 10 kΩ potentiometer or a 0 to 10 Vdc signal. It fits meeting rooms, multi-purpose rooms and paging systems where volume must be adjusted from one or more wall locations.
How does it work?
A rear-panel switch selects MOM mode or 0 to 10 VDC mode at power-up. In MOM mode, holding an UP or DOWN button ramps the level, while a short press steps it by one increment, and UP and DOWN ramp times are adjustable on the front panel. Pressing both remote buttons or the front-panel GO TO PRESET button returns audio to a stored preset, and multiple remote locations are possible. A rear-panel switch sets power-up to either the preset level or the last level used. In 0 to 10 VDC mode, a remote 10 kΩ linear pot or a 0 to 10 Vdc signal sets the level from a single location. RAMP and EQ RAMP outputs drive the level display on RDL remotes and an RDL ST-LEQ1 loudness equalizer. EXTERNAL CONTROL DATA jacks let one master module control additional RU-VCA2A or RU-VCA6A modules set to slave mode. RDL remote controls such as the RDL D-RLC10KM or RDL DS-RLC10K provide wall-mounted control. RDL recommends the PS-24AS power supply for the USA or the PS-24AX for international installations; the supply is not included.
