What is the RDL RU-SQ6A?
The RDL RU-SQ6A is a six-step sequencing controller that turns equipment on in order and off in reverse order for controlled system power-up and shutdown. Each step provides both an open-collector output and an SPST dry contact relay, so it can drive relays, power controllers or equipment remote inputs. A single front-panel control sets the interval between steps from 1 to 10 seconds.
How does it work?

Control and output connections are made on clearly labeled rear-panel detachable terminal blocks. Each of the six steps has an open-collector output rated 50 mA continuous and an SPST relay contact rated up to 2 A switching current. A single-turn TIMING INTERVAL control sets the delay between channels, and an internal microcontroller keeps timing accurate. The sequence is started by a front-panel SEQUENCE CONTROL pushbutton or, when set for remote operation, by grounding the rear-panel ACTIVATE terminals. Releasing the request turns outputs off in reverse sequence. If ACTIVATE is permanently grounded in remote mode, outputs sequence on when power is applied and all turn off together when power is removed. Front-panel LEDs show each channel's state, the UP REQUEST, sequence COMPLETE and whether front-panel or remote activation is selected. When the sequence completes, the Sure-Lok supervisory circuit latches the outputs on until the user deactivates the sequence. The module draws 24 Vdc at 100 mA plus any load on its 24 Vdc output; RDL recommends the PS-24AS (USA) or PS-24AX (international) power supply, not included. Mount it with the RC-1UR 1RU rack chassis, RU-HRA1 10.4-inch rack mount or RU-SMA1 surface mounting plate.
What are the key features?
- Six sequential steps — Equipment turns on in order and turns off in reverse order.
- Dual output types — Each step offers an open-collector output and an SPST dry contact relay.
- Adjustable interval — A front-panel control sets 1 to 10 seconds between steps.
- Local or remote activation — Start the sequence from the front panel or a remote contact closure.
- Sure-Lok supervision — A supervisory circuit latches outputs on once the sequence completes.
- Status LEDs — Indicators show each channel, request, completion and control source.
Where is it typically used?
- Auditorium
- House of worship
- Conference room
- Training room
- Multi-purpose room
- Government space

Frequently Asked Questions
What can the RU-SQ6A switch directly?
Each step has an SPST relay rated for 2 A switching current, 60 W maximum switching power and up to 250 Vac or 220 Vdc, plus a 50 mA open-collector output.
How long is the delay between steps?
The front-panel TIMING INTERVAL control sets 1 to 10 seconds between channels.
Can the sequence be started remotely?
Yes. With the rear-panel switch set for remote, grounding the ACTIVATE terminals starts the sequence.
Does it shut down in reverse order?
Yes. Cancelling the up request turns outputs off in reverse sequence.
Is a power supply included?
No. It needs 24 Vdc at 100 mA plus the load on its 24 Vdc output; RDL recommends the PS-24AS (USA) or PS-24AX (international) power supply, not included.
