What is the RDL RU-NL2?
The RDL RU-NL2 is a Dante network interface that converts two network audio channels to balanced professional line-level outputs. Each output delivers +4 dBu for a network level of -18 dBFS, so it connects directly to amplifiers, mixers and recorders without extra gain. Front-panel signal LEDs confirm audio on each channel, which simplifies setup when no computer is on site. It is built for equipment racks, closets, conference tables and backboards in commercial networked audio systems.
How does it work?

The noise floor is better than 80 dB below operating level, headroom exceeds 18 dB, and crosstalk is below the noise floor between outputs. High-resolution 24-bit digital to analog conversion and RDL analog filtering keep the outputs clean. A green signal LED for each Dante channel varies in intensity with the received level. Outputs mute when the digital audio inputs are inactive, and LEDs show network sync status. The RU-NL2 runs from an external 24 Vdc supply through a power jack or detachable terminal block. For PoE operation with hot-standby backup, RDL offers the RU-NL2P version. The all-metal RACK-UP enclosure supports free-standing, surface-mounted or rack-mounted operation. RDL recommends the PS-24AS power supply for the USA or the PS-24AX for international installations; the supply is not included.
What are the key features?
- Two Dante line outputs — Converts two Dante channels to +4 dBu balanced outputs on terminal blocks.
- Signal LEDs — A variable-intensity LED per channel shows received audio level.
- Clean conversion — 24-bit conversion with RDL analog filtering keeps THD+N below 0.05%.
- Auto-mute outputs — Outputs mute when the Dante inputs are inactive.
- Flexible mounting — Mounts free-standing, on a surface or in a rack with RDL RACK-UP accessories.
Where is it typically used?
- Conference room
- Training room
- Multi-purpose room
- Auditorium
- Commercial meeting space

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the RU-NL2 and RU-NL2P?
The RU-NL2 runs from an external 24 Vdc supply. The RU-NL2P adds PoE operation and can switch to PoE if its external supply fails.
What output level does it provide?
+4 dBu balanced for a network level of -18 dBFS, with more than 18 dB of headroom.
Which sample rates does it support?
44.1 kHz and 48 kHz (default) at 24-bit depth.
What power does it need?
24 Vdc at 105 mA. RDL recommends the PS-24AS power supply for the USA or the PS-24AX for international installations; the supply is not included.
How is it mounted?
RDL lists RACK-UP mounting accessories including the RU-RA3R, RU-HRA1, RU-SMA1, RU-BR1, RC-1UR, UC-1R, UC-2R and WDG1R, plus the DRA-35R DIN rail adapter.
