What is the RDL RU-MLD4T?
The RDL RU-MLD4T is a 1x4 microphone and line distribution amplifier with a studio-quality transformer on each of its four outputs. It splits one balanced mic or line source to four isolated outputs, each switch-selectable for mic or line level. Connections are available on front-panel XLR jacks and rear-panel detachable terminal blocks, both active at all times. It is a common choice for press feeds, recording splits and multi-destination audio distribution in commercial facilities.
How does it work?
The single input accepts a balanced microphone or line-level signal, selected with a rear-panel MIC/LINE switch. Two more switches set LO or HI mic gain and enable or disable standard 24 Vdc phantom power for condenser microphones. Each of the four outputs has a separate rear-panel switch to set mic or line level for the destination equipment. Outputs are isolated from each other, may be wired balanced or unbalanced, and each uses a studio-quality output transformer on the RU-MLD4T. A front-panel gain trim sits below a dual-LED VU meter calibrated to indicate +4 dBu for line-level outputs. Line frequency response is 15 Hz to 50 kHz (±0.1 dB) with THD+N under 0.005% and more than 20 dB of headroom. Power is 24 Vdc at 90 mA through a detachable terminal block or power jack; RDL recommends the PS-24AX supply. The RDL RU-MLD4 is the version without output transformers, and the module rack-mounts with the RU-HRA1 or RC-1UR.
