What is the RDL HD-MA35U?

The RDL HD-MA35U is a four-input mixer amplifier that drives 4 Ω or 8 Ω speakers with 35 W from a high-efficiency Class D stage. It is designed for background music with paging and music-on-hold, and adds a second 4 W zone for a small area. Front-panel level and tone controls give users direct control, while the master level can also be adjusted from an RDL remote or a 0 to 10 Vdc control. It fits offices, retail spaces, waiting areas and small meeting rooms that need paging and background music from one compact unit.

How does it work?

RDL HD-MA35U 35 watt mixer amplifier 4/8 ohm

The Zone 1 mixer sits on the front panel with four input level controls plus bass and treble controls that can also be switched to affect the line output. The Zone 1 output drives 4 Ω or 8 Ω loudspeakers, selected by a rear-panel switch, at 35 W RMS into 4 Ω or 32 W into 8 Ω. Master volume is VCA controlled through an RJ45 port that works with RDL remote controls such as the RDL D-RLC10KM, or with standard 0 to 10 Vdc or 10 kΩ controls. The Zone 2 mixer on the rear panel uses installer-set trimmers. Inputs 1 and 2 are switch-selectable for mic or line level with switchable 24 V phantom, and Input 1 has a transformer-isolated line input with push-to-talk terminals and an adjustable VOX circuit. Paging on Input 1 can duck inputs 2, 3 and/or 4 by 25 dB, with a rear-panel trimmer that delays the fade-up from 2 to 6 seconds. Inputs 3 and 4 accept unbalanced mono or stereo line sources on RCA jacks. Zone 2 adds a 4 W amplifier for an 8 Ω speaker, a 600 Ω transformer-balanced music-on-hold output and a balanced line output that can feed another amplifier. The mixer and amplifiers enter standby sleep mode when audio is absent and draw less than 1 W, waking about 2 seconds after audio returns. The HD-MA35U is engineered, tested and manufactured in the U.S.A. and includes its power supply.

What are the key features?

  • Two amplifier zones — Zone 1 delivers 35 W into 4 Ω (32 W into 8 Ω) and Zone 2 delivers 4 W into 8 Ω for a second area.
  • Paging priority ducking — Automatic VOX or contact-closure paging on Input 1 ducks other inputs by 25 dB.
  • Music-on-hold output — A 600 Ω transformer-isolated output feeds telephone systems.
  • Bass and treble controls — Front-panel tone controls with center detent shape the Zone 1 sound.
  • Energy-saving sleep mode — Standby consumption is below 1 W including the supplied power supply.
  • Remote master volume — An RJ45 VCA port accepts RDL remote controls or 0 to 10 Vdc control.

Where is it typically used?

  • Commercial meeting space
  • Conference room
  • Multi-purpose room
  • Training room
  • Government space
