What is the RDL HD-MA35A?
The RDL HD-MA35A is a three-input, 35 W Class D mixer amplifier built for background music, paging and music-on-hold in small commercial spaces. Its main zone provides a constant voltage output of 25 V, 70 V or 100 V for distributed speaker lines, while a second 2 W zone and a 600 Ω output serve a small area and telephone music-on-hold. Automatic or manual paging priority, tone controls and a remote-controllable master level make it a complete small-system amplifier.
How does it work?

Input 1 accepts a balanced mic or line source, with switch-selectable 24 Vdc phantom power and a transformer-isolated line input; inputs 2 and 3 accept unbalanced stereo RCA sources summed to mono. A paging source on Input 1 can duck inputs 2 and 3 by 25 dB through push-to-talk terminals or an adjustable VOX circuit, and the music fades back up when the page ends. The front-panel Zone 1 mixer gives users level controls for each input plus bass and treble tone controls on the 35 W output. A rear-panel Zone 2 mixer with installer trimmers feeds a 2 W amplifier for an 8 Ω speaker and a 600 Ω transformer-balanced music-on-hold output. The Zone 1 master level is VCA controlled and accepts RDL remote level controls or industry-standard 0 to 10 Vdc or 0 to 10 kΩ controls. An analog compressor/limiter prevents output clipping for input overloads up to 20 dB, so the amplifier can deliver higher average output and clarity than its 35 W rating suggests. A balanced +4 dBu line output feeds additional amplifiers, and a ground-referenced 24 Vdc output (100 mA maximum) can power an optional RDL module mounted on the provided panel space. The included 24 Vdc power supply, standby mode and thermal and short-circuit protection support continuous commercial operation. For installation, use the HD-RA2 19-inch rack adapter, HD-HRA1 10.4-inch rack mount or HD-WM2 wall mount bracket, and the HD-ASC1 security cover helps prevent tampering with the controls.
What are the key features?
- Three inputs with priority ducking — Input 1 paging ducks inputs 2 and 3 by 25 dB via VOX or push-to-talk.
- Two amplifier zones — A 35 W main zone and a 2 W second zone cover two areas from one unit.
- Music-on-hold output — A 600 Ω transformer-balanced output feeds telephone equipment.
- Remote master level — The VCA accepts RDL remote controls or 0 to 10 Vdc and 0 to 10 kΩ controls.
- Analog compressor/limiter — Clean, unclipped output is maintained for input overloads up to 20 dB.
- Power supply included — An external 100 to 240 Vac supply delivers 24 Vdc to the amplifier.
Where is it typically used?
- Commercial meeting space
- Multi-purpose room
- Training room
- House of worship
- Government space

Frequently Asked Questions
What speakers can the HD-MA35A drive?
Zone 1 drives 25 V, 70 V or 100 V constant voltage speaker lines, and Zone 2 drives an 8 Ω speaker.
Can paging override background music automatically?
Yes. A VOX circuit on Input 1 or a push-to-talk contact closure ducks inputs 2 and/or 3 by 25 dB during a page.
Can it feed a phone system for music-on-hold?
Yes. A 600 Ω transformer-isolated MOH output is fed from the rear-panel Zone 2 mixer.
Is the power supply included?
Yes. An external 100 to 240 Vac supply providing 24 Vdc is included.
Can volume be controlled from the wall?
Yes. The Zone 1 master VCA accepts RDL remote level controls or 0 to 10 Vdc and 0 to 10 kΩ controls.
Is there a version with different outputs?
Yes. The HD-MA35 is the 4 Ω / 8 Ω low-impedance version.
