What is the RDL FP-UBC6?
The RDL FP-UBC6 converts six unbalanced consumer audio signals to balanced professional line level in a single FLAT-PAK module. Gold-plated RCA phono jacks accept the inputs and XLR connectors with gold-plated pins deliver the balanced outputs. Its six identical channels make it well suited to bringing consumer 6-channel surround sound sources into a professional audio system. Integrators use it in conference rooms, training rooms and media spaces where consumer players must feed professional processing.
How does it work?
Each channel converts a -10 dBV unbalanced input to a +4 dBu balanced output at the normal gain setting marked on the trimmer. Individual gain trims adjust each channel from -5 dB to +10 dB relative to normal, so input levels from -20 dBV to -5 dBV can produce a +4 dBu output. The 150 Ω balanced outputs drive 600 Ω or 10 kΩ lines and can also be connected unbalanced. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 40 kHz within ±0.25 dB, with more than 18 dB of headroom and noise below -90 dB referred to +4 dBu. Crosstalk is better than 80 dB across the audio band, which keeps surround channels independent. The connectorized design speeds installation, and the module mounts in a cabinet, on a shelf or in a rack. RDL recommends the PS-24AS power supply for the USA or the PS-24AX for international installations; the supply is not included.
