What is the RDL FP-PA35A?
The RDL FP-PA35A is a 35 W RMS mono constant-voltage amplifier with 25 V, 70 V and 100 V outputs for powering multiple distributed speakers in a zone. An analog compressor/limiter controls clipping and can raise average output well beyond a standard 35 W amplifier. It is plenum rated per UL 2043, includes its power supply, and drops below 1 W in its automatic sleep mode.
How does it work?
The FP-PA35A accepts a balanced line-level input that may also be connected unbalanced, on a detachable terminal block. A front-panel gain control, adjustable by hand or with a trimming screwdriver, covers both consumer and professional levels. Speakers connect to the 25 V, 70 V or 100 V output to suit the distributed sound system design. The input gain setting determines whether only the limiter suppresses clipping or the full compressor/limiter raises average output power. A red LED flashes when the limiter prevents clipping, and stays dimly lit between flashes when compression is active. Compression uses three dynamic time constants and keeps audio clean for input overloads of up to 20 dB. With no input, a timer switches the Class D stage off after 5, 15 or 25 minutes, and the amplifier and supply then draw less than 1 W; the sleep mode can also be disabled. When audio returns, the amplifier restores full operation within 150 milliseconds. A blue POWER LED shows dim in sleep mode and bright when the amplifier is active, and the module has thermal and short-circuit protection. The included supply accepts 100 to 240 Vac, and the FLAT-PAK case can be rack mounted with the RDL FP-HRA or RDL FP-RRA.
