What is the RDL FP-MPA2?
The RDL FP-MPA2 is a two-channel phantom power adapter that supplies 12 V, 24 V or 48 V phantom to condenser microphones through XLR connections. Phantom voltage is selectable for each input, and a second switch sets the buildout for 24 V microphones that need lower current. Phantom is blocked from the output, so the adapter can feed mixers or inputs that do not provide phantom power.
How does it work?
Each of the two identical circuits has a female XLR for the microphone and a male XLR for the signal output. The selected phantom voltage is applied to the input jack and blocked from the output jack. A three-position switch on each channel chooses 12 Vdc, 24 Vdc or 48 Vdc phantom. For 24 V microphones that perform best with higher buildout resistance, a second switch selects 1.2 kΩ NORMAL or 2.4 kΩ LO current, per IEC 61938: 2013. Phantom voltages are generated by a low-noise dc-dc converter and regulator circuits, and each phantom output is short-circuit protected. The module runs on 24 Vdc at 120 mA, ground-referenced. Jack placement allows high-density mounting against flat surfaces, and multiple units can mount to rack sides or rails with the RDL FP-RRA.
