What is the RDL FP-DCC1?

The RDL FP-DCC1 converts a 12 Vdc source to regulated 24 Vdc so RDL audio and video modules can run from battery or vehicle power. It provides a 400 mA high-current output for multiple modules or amplifiers and a separate 50 mA low-noise output for microphone preamplifiers. Overvoltage shutdown, fusing and reverse-voltage protection are built into a compact all-metal FLAT-PAK case.

How does it work?

RDL FP-DCC1 12 Vdc to 24 Vdc converter

The FP-DCC1 accepts 11 to 14 Vdc at 1 A on a detachable terminal block and regulates its outputs to 24 Vdc, ground-referenced. The high-current output supplies 400 mA on both a terminal block and a dc power jack, with a combined limit of 400 mA. This output can power several modules through a power distributor, or RDL audio power amplifiers such as the ST-PA2 or ST-PA6. A second, heavily filtered 50 mA output is intended for high-gain microphone-level modules such as mic preamplifiers. Both outputs may be used at the same time. If the input exceeds 15 Vdc, for example from a failed vehicle regulator, the module shuts down and lights the INPUT OVERVOLTAGE LED. Automotive blade fuses protect the input (2 A) and output (1 A), and the circuits are protected against excessive current and reverse voltage. The FP-DCC1 is not intended for floating (bipolar) modules, and it can be rack mounted with the RDL FP-HRA or RDL FP-RRA.

What are the key features?

  • 12 to 24 Vdc conversion — Runs ground-referenced 24 Vdc modules from a 12 Vdc source.
  • High-current output — 400 mA at 24 Vdc on terminal block and dc jack for multiple modules.
  • Low-noise output — A filtered 50 mA output for microphone preamplifiers.
  • Overvoltage shutdown — Inputs above 15 Vdc shut the module down and light a warning LED.
  • Fused and protected — Blade fuses plus protection against overcurrent and reverse voltage.
  • All-metal FLAT-PAK — Ultra-compact construction for mobile and tight installs.

Where is it typically used?

  • Broadcast studio
  • Government space
  • Multi-purpose room
  • Training room

Frequently Asked Questions

What input voltage does it accept?

11 to 14 Vdc at 1 A, ground-referenced, on a detachable terminal block.

How much current can it supply?

400 mA at 24 Vdc from the high-current outputs combined, plus 50 mA from the low-noise output.

Can both outputs be used together?

Yes. The high-current and low-noise outputs can be used simultaneously.

What happens with a voltage spike?

Above 15 Vdc the module shuts down its circuitry and lights the INPUT OVERVOLTAGE LED.

Will it power bipolar modules?

No. RDL states the FP-DCC1 is not intended to power floating (bipolar) modules.

What warranty does it carry?

This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.

Can Creation Networks help design the system?

Yes. Our team specifies, programs and installs mobile and portable audio systems for commercial projects nationwide. Call (888) 230-3661 for a quote or design review.
