The RDL FP-ALC2 is a stereo automatic level control that holds consistent levels from consumer audio sources with varying output levels. Its split-band AGC maintains a steady -10 dBV output for input variations as great as 25 dB while staying nearly transparent to listeners. RCA phono inputs and outputs and a compact RDL FLAT-PAK chassis make it easy to add to background or foreground music systems.

How does it work?

The FP-ALC2 is a dual-channel module with unbalanced phono jack inputs and outputs at -10 dBV nominal. The automatic level range spans -30 to 0 dBV, so changers, satellite receivers and other variable sources arrive at the same level. Self-adjusting attack and release times keep processing nearly transparent for program material from rock to classical. A gate at -40 dBV prevents level seeking during quiet passages. Setup uses one gain adjustment: set it as high as possible with the loudest source without the INPUT OVERLOAD indicator flashing. Power is 24 Vdc at 80 mA, ground-referenced, through the barrier block or a dc power jack. The low-profile case fits confined spaces and can be rack mounted with the RDL FP-HRA or RDL FP-RRA adapters.
