RDL EZ-MPA2 – Dual Mic Preamp with Compressors
What is the RDL EZ-MPA2?
The RDL EZ-MPA2 is a stereo microphone preamplifier with front-panel level controls, LED metering and switchable audio compressors. It adds microphone inputs to mixers and amplifiers that only have line inputs, and it is used in houses of worship, restaurants, meeting rooms, conference rooms, educational facilities and studios.
How does it work?
Left and right balanced XLR microphone inputs support dynamic or condenser mics, with switch-selectable 24 V phantom on the rear panel. Each channel has a front-panel level control with off to 50 dB of gain, and dual-LED VU meters calibrated to -10 dBV simplify setup. A front-panel switch engages compressors with a 20 dB range to control overloads and clipping during loud bursts. The line output is available on rear RCA or mini-jacks at -10 dBV nominal. The 1/3 rack width unit runs from 24 Vdc, such as the RDL PS-24AX 24 Vdc power supply, and mounts in the RDL EZ-RA6 rack adapter or on a desk with the EZ-DC2 desktop chassis.
What are the key features?
- Two XLR mic inputs — Balanced left and right microphone inputs support dynamic or condenser microphones.
- Switchable phantom power — A rear-panel switch enables 24 V phantom for condenser microphones.
- Front-panel compressors — A switch engages 20 dB range compressors to control peaks and clipping.
- Level controls and metering — Per-channel gain knobs and dual-LED VU meters make level setting simple.
- RCA or mini-jack outputs — The -10 dBV line output connects to consumer or prosumer line inputs.
