RDL EZ-MCP1 – In-Line Microphone Compressor with XLR I/O
What is the RDL EZ-MCP1?
The RDL EZ-MCP1 is an in-line microphone compressor that keeps audio levels consistent despite variations of up to 30 dB from the microphone. It installs between a microphone and a mic-level mixer or amplifier input.
How does it work?
Setup uses a front-panel trimmer adjusted during normal speech until the compression LED just begins to flash. A rear-panel output trimmer is provided but is typically left at its normal default position. Phantom voltage (24 V) is switched on automatically when the output connects to a mic input that provides phantom. RDL lists paging, public address and recording in conference rooms, educational facilities and houses of worship as typical uses. It runs from a 24 Vdc supply such as the RDL PS-24AX 24 Vdc power supply, and mounts with the RDL EZ-RA6 rack adapter or EZ-UCB2 under-counter bracket pair.
What are the key features?
- Consistent mic levels — Fast automatic level control evens out speech level variations of up to 30 dB.
- Overload control — The compressor controls overloads that would otherwise cause distortion and clipping.
- LED-guided setup — A front-panel trimmer and LED indicator make setup quick and simple.
- Automatic phantom switching — 24 V phantom engages automatically when connected to a phantom-powered mic input.
- XLR input and output — Gold-plated XLR connectors let the unit insert directly into a microphone line.
