RDL EZ-HK3 – Stereo Audio and Composite Video Hum Killer
What is the RDL EZ-HK3?
The RDL EZ-HK3 is a transformer isolation module that eliminates ground-loop hum in both stereo audio and composite video. It installs between an unbalanced A/V source and a grounded amplifier and display.
How does it work?
Stereo audio and 75 Ω composite video connect on gold-plated RCA jacks. Each input shield is isolated from the case and output ground, and a rear-panel ground-lift switch lifts both the audio and video output grounds. Audio runs at -10 dBV nominal and 10 kΩ with 20 Hz to 20 kHz (±1 dB) response, and video bandwidth is 40 Hz to more than 5 MHz, all at unity gain. The 1/6 rack width case mounts in the EZ-CC6 component chassis or EZ-RA6 rack adapter.
What are the key features?
- Audio and video isolation — One module breaks ground loops on stereo audio and composite video together.
- Gold-plated RCA jacks — Input and output connectors match consumer A/V sources.
- Ground-lift switch — One switch lifts both audio and video output grounds.
- Passive unity gain — No power is needed and signal levels are unchanged.
