What is the RDL DS-HPA3?

The RDL DS-HPA3 is a stainless steel Decora-style wall-mounted audio amplifier that combines a 3.5 W speaker output with a separate front-panel headphone amplifier. It accepts a balanced line-level input that may also be connected unbalanced, making it a practical local listening point for classrooms, training rooms and assistive listening stations.

How does it work?

The DS-HPA3 mounts in a standard wall box and takes its line input, speaker output and 24 Vdc power on a rear-panel detachable terminal block. A high-efficiency Class D stage drives a 4 or 8 ohm speaker at 3.5 W RMS into 8 ohms or 6.5 W RMS into 4 ohms, while the front-panel mini-jack feeds headphones. Two recessed rear switches set the input sensitivity and choose whether the speaker amplifier mutes when headphones are plugged in, and a single front-panel volume control sets both outputs. The front panel has no illuminated indicators, so the module suits darkened rooms. Power it from a ground-referenced 24 Vdc source such as the RDL PS-24AX 24 Vdc power supply, and finish the installation with an RDL CP-1S stainless steel cover plate, or rack it with the RM-D3 3-module rack mount.
