What is the RDL DS-BT1A?
The RDL DS-BT1A is a wall-mounted Bluetooth audio input in a stainless steel Decora-style face that sends audio from phones, tablets and laptops into an installed sound system. It transmits over standard CATx cable to any RDL Format-A twisted pair receiver, which also powers the module. Single-button pairing with LED status keeps operation simple for presenters and guests.
How does it work?
When paired with a Bluetooth-enabled device, the DS-BT1A receives stereo audio and sends it over two Format-A pairs to an RDL Format-A receiver. A rear-panel stereo/mono switch lets the installer send summed mono audio over one selected pair (A, B or C) instead. In mono mode, up to three DS-BT1A modules can be daisy-chained to a single three-pair Format-A receiver, giving several wall locations their own Bluetooth input. In stereo mode, an additional Format-A source set to Pair A can share the same receiver. Connections between modules and the receiver use standard CATx cable with RJ45 connectors, and signal and power pairs pass through the RJ45 jacks. The module draws 24 Vdc at 100 mA from the Format-A receiver, so no power supply is needed at the wall. The installer can customize the module ID name and programming password over the Bluetooth connection using a smartphone, computer or tablet terminal program. RDL recommends the TX-TPR2A stereo Format-A receiver, and at least one compatible Format-A receiver with its recommended power supply is required to complete a system. A CP-1S stainless steel cover plate completes the wall installation.
