What is the RDL DB-NLC1?
The RDL DB-NLC1 is a PoE-powered network volume remote control in a black Decora-style face that adjusts Dante audio levels from a wall location. A 15-segment LED string shows the attenuation level, and a dedicated Mute button with indicator gives users fast, predictable control. Each unit can run as a Controller or as a Satellite, so up to eight wall stations can share control of the same audio zone.
How does it work?

The DB-NLC1 connects to the network through a single RJ45 jack and is powered by PoE (Class 0, IEEE 802.3af), so no local power supply is needed. Setup is done in a browser session hosted by the unit itself, where the installer assigns the outputs or Dante flows that the control will adjust. When volume is set to a group of outputs at different levels, the dB offsets between them are preserved while the group level changes. Pressing Up and Down together returns audio to a preset level defined in the unit settings, and the Mute condition clears with another press of Mute or either level button. Configured as a Controller, the DB-NLC1 accepts commands from up to seven Satellites and sends single commands to the controlled devices; configured as a Satellite, it can point to another NLC1 or to a network remote such as the RDL D-NMC1. The LED display dims when idle and returns to full brightness on any button press. For public spaces, the unit can lock after 30 seconds of inactivity, and an installer-programmable button sequence re-enables the controls. It mounts in a standard US electrical box with a cover plate sold separately, such as the CP-1B black cover plate, or on a desk or wall with the DC-1B chassis.
What are the key features?
- PoE powered — IEEE 802.3af Class 0 power over the network cable removes the need for a local supply at the wall.
- 15-segment LED level display — Users see the current attenuation level at a glance, and the display dims when not in use.
- Controller or Satellite operation — Up to eight units can work together so a room can be controlled from several entrances.
- Preserved group offsets — Grouped outputs keep their relative dB offsets while the overall level is adjusted.
- Auto-lock option — Buttons can lock after 30 seconds of inactivity with an installer-defined button sequence to re-enable them.
- Browser-based setup — Configuration runs in a browser session hosted by the unit, with no special software required.

Frequently Asked Questions
What audio devices can the DB-NLC1 control?
It sends level commands to compatible RDL network audio devices on the same network and displays the attenuation level they report. Confirm your target devices with us before ordering.
How is the DB-NLC1 powered?
It is powered over the network cable from a PoE switch or injector meeting IEEE 802.3af (Class 0).
How many controls can share one zone?
One unit runs as the Controller and up to seven others can run as Satellites, for up to eight control points.
Can I prevent guests from changing the volume?
Yes. The unit can be set to lock after 30 seconds of inactivity, and an installer-programmed button sequence re-enables the controls.
Does it include a wall plate?
No. It mounts in a standard US electrical box and the cover plate is sold separately; the CP-1B black cover plate is a matching option.
Are other colors available?
Yes. The NLC1 is offered in white, black and stainless steel, including the D-NLC1 (white) and DS-NLC1 (stainless steel).
