What is the RDL D-RN12?
The RDL D-RN12 is a single-gang Dante or AES67 wall-plate interface with one mic/line input and two balanced outputs, built for conference rooms, classrooms and meeting spaces that run on a Dante network. This white version is powered entirely by PoE and configured in RDL CONSOLE or other network control software, with a Q-SYS plug-in available. 24-bit conversion and RDL's low-noise analog circuitry make it a dependable wall-mount Dante mic/line interface for commercial AV installations.
How does it work?

The front-panel XLR input converts a microphone or line source to one network transmit channel, while two received network channels feed a front-panel mic/line XLR output and two rear-panel line outputs on a detachable wiring block. Input gain is set in software, with 35 dB, 42 dB or 59 dB for dynamic or condenser microphones and unity or 12 dB for line sources. P48 phantom power can be enabled in software when the input is set to mic level. One rear-panel output carries the same channel as the front XLR at line level, and the other carries a separate network channel for a local amplifier. Each output provides +4 dBu balanced for a network level of -18 dBFS and has a software-controlled attenuator adjustable in 1 dB steps to 63 dB, then OFF. The module supports sample rates of 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz at 24 bits. It fits a standard US single-gang electrical box, or mounts in EU/UK square back boxes with 60 mm screw centers using the RDL EP-1 adaptor. Two XLR outputs can be added next to the plate using an RDL D-D2 fitted with two AMS-XLRMA jacks, available separately. Green front-panel LEDs confirm valid PoE power and Dante network sync, so installers can check status at the wall. The steel chassis carries a Decora-style front plate, and the unit is engineered and manufactured in the U.S.A. for continuous duty. For surface mounting where no in-wall box exists, the RDL SMB-1W surface-mount box is a matching option.
What are the key features?
- Mic/line XLR input — Software-selected gain of 35, 42 or 59 dB for mics and unity or 12 dB for line sources matches nearly any source.
- Software P48 phantom — Phantom power for condenser microphones is enabled from the control software when the input is set to mic level.
- Front and rear outputs — A front-panel XLR output is selectable for mic or line level, and a second line output sits on the rear wiring block.
- Dante or AES67 — The interface joins Dante networks and AES67 systems at 44.1, 48, 88.2 or 96 kHz with 24-bit conversion.
- 1 dB step output attenuators — Each output level is set in software in 1 dB steps down to 63 dB of attenuation, then OFF.
- Single-cable PoE power — A PoE Class 0, IEEE 802.3af switch port powers the unit, so no local power supply is required.
- Software and Q-SYS control — Setup runs in RDL CONSOLE or other network control software, and a Q-SYS plug-in is available.
- RDL remote compatible — The module works with RDL network remote controls for user level adjustment.
- Single-gang wall mounting — The compact 1.80 x 4.11 x 2.09 in body fits a standard US single-gang electrical box.
