What is the RDL D-PA3?
The RDL D-PA3 is a white Decora-style 3.5 W wall-mounted power amplifier with two inputs: a balanced rear-panel line input and a front-panel stereo mini-jack. It lets a presenter plug in a laptop or media player locally while the room still receives program audio, ideal for huddle rooms, classrooms and small meeting spaces.
How does it work?
The rear input accepts a balanced line-level signal that may be connected unbalanced, with a recessed side switch setting its sensitivity during installation. The front mini-jack accepts -10 dBV consumer sources, sums left and right to mono and automatically switches off the rear input when a source is connected. A high-efficiency Class D stage drives a 4 or 8 ohm speaker at 3.5 W RMS into 8 ohms or 6.5 W RMS into 4 ohms, and a front-panel control sets the volume. Wiring and 24 Vdc power connect on a rear detachable terminal block; a supply such as the RDL PS-24AX 24 Vdc power supply powers the module. Complete the wall box with an RDL CP-1 white cover plate, a DC-1W desktop/wall chassis or SMB-1W surface mount box.
What are the key features?
- Two inputs with auto-switching — Plugging a source into the front mini-jack automatically switches off the rear-panel input.
- Mono summing — Left and right signals on the front mini-jack are summed to mono for single-speaker playback.
- 3.5 W Class D amplifier — The output delivers 3.5 W RMS into 8 ohms or 6.5 W RMS into 4 ohms with negligible heat.
- Front-panel volume — Users adjust level locally with a single-turn front-panel gain control.
- Dark-room friendly — No illuminated front-panel indicators makes the module suitable for darkened rooms.
- Protected all-metal module — Thermal and short-circuit protection are built into an ultra-compact all-metal enclosure.
