What is the RDL AV-XMN4?
The RDL AV-XMN4 is a four-channel microphone to Dante interface that converts four XLR mic inputs to Dante network audio channels. Each input has switch-selectable gain for dynamic or condenser microphones, P48 phantom power and its own dual-LED VU meter, so no configuration software is needed. Its all-metal AV-PAK enclosure works on stage, in a studio or on a fixed surface, and it runs from PoE or an external 24 Vdc supply with automatic failover.
How does it work?

Each of the four XLR inputs has a front-panel switch that sets mic gain to 40 dB, 48 dB or 62 dB for dynamic or condenser microphones. A dual-LED VU meter on every channel shows the input level so the installer can pick the ideal gain range without a computer. P48 phantom power is supplied to each microphone input, and discrete mic preamplifiers keep noise low for speech and music pickup. The Dante network connects through a Neutrik etherCON RJ45 jack, and the unit supports sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz at 24 bits. The AV-XMN4 operates from a PoE-enabled network switch (Class 0, IEEE 802.3af) or from an external 24 Vdc supply at 500 mA. When both sources are connected it runs from the external supply and switches over to PoE automatically if that supply is lost, and it reserves PoE power from the switch the whole time. RDL recommends the PS-24AS (USA) or RDL PS-24AX (international) 24 Vdc power supply, which is not included. Mounting brackets are included for fixed installs, the chassis protects the front-panel slide switches from damage, and it can mount on a microphone stand with the RDL SF-MSM1 microphone stand mount. A green front-panel LED confirms valid power and Dante sync.
What are the key features?
- Four mic inputs to Dante — Converts four XLR microphone sources to four Dante transmit channels.
- Switch-selectable gain — Each input offers 40 dB, 48 dB or 62 dB of gain to match dynamic or condenser microphones.
- P48 phantom on every input — Each XLR input supplies 48 V phantom power to IEC 61938 for condenser microphones.
- Per-channel VU metering — Dual-LED VU meters on all four inputs make gain setting quick without a laptop.
- No software required — Setup is done entirely with front-panel switches.
- PoE or 24 Vdc with failover — Runs from PoE or an external 24 Vdc supply and switches to PoE automatically if the external supply fails.
- etherCON network jack — A Neutrik etherCON RJ45 connector provides a locking network connection for stage use.
- Up to 96 kHz — Supports 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bits.
- All-metal enclosure — A durable chassis with included brackets suits stage, studio or fixed surface mounting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need software to set it up?
No. Gain is set with a front-panel switch on each input, using the dual-LED VU meter as a guide. Dante routing is handled on the network.
How is it powered?
From PoE Class 0 (IEEE 802.3af) or an external 24 Vdc supply at 500 mA. With both connected it runs on the external supply and fails over to PoE.
Is a power supply included?
No. RDL recommends the PS-24AS (USA) or PS-24AX (international), sold separately.
Does it supply phantom power?
Yes. P48 phantom power is supplied to each of the four microphone inputs.
Can it be mounted on a mic stand?
Yes. RDL lists the SF-MSM1 microphone stand mount for this unit, and mounting brackets are included for fixed surfaces.
Which sample rates does it support?
44.1 kHz, 48 kHz (default), 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz at 24 bits.
What warranty does it carry?
This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
