Product Overview
The Sound Control Technologies RCU2S-GC8 is a USB 2.0 camera extension kit with RS-232 serial control loop, designed for Panasonic PTZ camera deployments requiring both USB video and RS-232 camera control over a single CAT cable. It extends USB 2.0/UVC video, bi-directional audio, RS-232 PTZ control, and 5V/12V camera power up to 300 feet. The GC8 cable kit is matched to supported Panasonic camera models — the C8 designation indicates inclusion of the RS-232 control loop. Contact Creation Networks for the specific Panasonic models supported by this configuration. Suitable for conference rooms, boardrooms, and government space AV installations using Panasonic PTZ cameras with RS-232 control.
Product Description
The RCU2S-GC8 uses a Head End (HE) unit at the codec or RS-232 control source and a Camera End (CE) at the Panasonic camera location. A single CAT5e or CAT6 cable between these units carries USB 2.0/UVC video, bi-directional RS-232 serial control, bi-directional audio, and 5V/12V camera power. The RS-232 channel is bidirectional, enabling PTZ control commands from the codec or control system and returning status feedback where supported by the Panasonic camera.
Power delivery supports 5V and 12V DC at the camera end, so no local power supply is needed. The bi-directional audio channel carries microphone or intercom signals. UVC compliance ensures the Panasonic camera appears as a standard USB video device on any USB 2.0 host without proprietary drivers. The single-cable solution replaces separate USB, serial, and power cable runs to the Panasonic camera location.
