Product Overview
The QSC Server Core X50r is the highest-performance processor in the Q-SYS portfolio and the most powerful AV&C processor QSC has produced. Built on a Dell PowerEdge R570 enterprise server platform with dual redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and 4× 10 Gbps-capable SFP+ network ports, the X50r delivers 5× the DSP processing power of the Server Core X10 and is purpose-built for the most demanding large-scale, mission-critical AV deployments — themed entertainment, large resort and convention facilities, broadcast integration, government command centers, and enterprise campuses where audio network scale is measured in thousands of channels. At 10 Gbps, the X50r supports 4,096×4,096 Q-LAN/AES67 audio channels, 1,024×1,024 network I/O streams, 256 AEC channels, and up to 512×512 software-based Dante channels. At 1 Gbps, capacity scales to 512×512 channels and 256×256 streams.
The X50r runs on the same Q-SYS Full Stack AV Platform as every other Q-SYS Core processor. Integrators who have designed systems on the Core Nano, Core 24f, or any other Q-SYS Core can scale to the X50r without relearning Q-SYS Designer or rebuilding peripheral integrations. The field-replaceable SFP+ ports — shipped with 2× 10 Gbps fiber and 2× 1 Gbps copper pre-installed — allow network connectivity to be configured for the specific fiber or copper infrastructure of each installation.
Key Features
- 4,096×4,096 Q-LAN/AES67 channels at 10 Gbps — The largest network audio capacity of any commercially available AV processor; designed for campus-wide, venue-wide, and themed entertainment AV architectures that would require multiple server-class processors from any other vendor.
- 1,024×1,024 network I/O streams at 10 Gbps — Supports highly complex signal routing topologies with thousands of simultaneous audio paths.
- 256 AEC channels at 200 ms tail length — Sufficient for the largest enterprise conferencing deployments without supplemental AEC hardware.
- Up to 512×512 software-based Dante channels (8×8 included) — Largest Dante capacity in the Q-SYS portfolio; supports full-scale enterprise and venue-wide Dante network integration.
- 5× the DSP processing power of the Server Core X10 — Raw processing headroom for the most algorithmically complex Q-SYS designs including large automixer arrays, multi-zone room combine, and high-density FIR processing.
- Dual redundant, hot-swappable power supplies (2× 1,100W) — Highest power redundancy in the Q-SYS portfolio; designed for continuous operation in venues where downtime is not an option.
- 4× 10 Gbps SFP+ ports (field-replaceable) — Pre-installed with 2× 10 Gbps fiber and 2× 1 Gbps copper transceivers; can be swapped in the field to match the fiber plant or copper infrastructure of any installation.
- iDRAC v10 remote management — Dedicated out-of-band hardware management via rear Ethernet and front USB-C; the latest generation of Dell's enterprise server management platform.
- 96 VoIP softphone instances — 50% more VoIP capacity than the X20r; supports very large enterprise telephony integration scenarios.
- 960 GB onboard media drive (900+ GB user-available) — Approximately 1,800+ hours of uncompressed mono WAV storage; 4-channel recording and up to 256-channel playback with optional stackable licenses.
- 256×256 Media/WAN channel capacity — Large-scale AV-over-IP media distribution for venue-wide or campus-wide streaming architectures.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the 10 Gbps requirements for full 4,096×4,096 channel capacity?
The Server Core X50r requires a 10 Gbps network connection (via the pre-installed 10 Gbps fiber SFP+ transceivers or field-installed 10 Gbps alternatives) to achieve 4,096×4,096 Q-LAN/AES67 channel capacity and 1,024×1,024 I/O streams. At 1 Gbps connections (using the pre-installed copper SFP+ transceivers), capacity scales to 512×512 channels and 256×256 streams — still a significant step beyond any other single Q-SYS Core processor.
Can the SFP+ transceivers be changed in the field?
Yes. All four SFP+ ports are field-replaceable without returning the unit to QSC. The X50r ships with 2× 10 Gbps fiber and 2× 1 Gbps copper transceivers pre-installed. Integrators can swap transceivers to match the fiber plant or copper infrastructure of the installation site. Contact Creation Networks for compatible transceiver options.
How does the X50r compare to the X20r for large-venue deployments?
The X50r delivers 5× the DSP power of the X10 (vs. 2× for the X20r), 4,096×4,096 network channels at 10 Gbps (vs. 384×384 for the X20r), 256 AEC channels (vs. 128), 512×512 Dante (vs. 256×256), and 96 VoIP instances (vs. 64). The X50r is the appropriate choice when a single X20r would be processing-limited or when 10 Gbps network infrastructure is available for full channel capacity utilization.
Is the X50r compatible with existing Q-SYS Designer designs?
Yes. All Q-SYS Cores share the same Q-SYS Full Stack AV Platform and Q-SYS Designer software. Designs created for smaller Core processors can be migrated to the X50r, with processing-intensive elements that were previously split across multiple Cores potentially consolidated onto the X50r alone. No retraining or new software environment is required.
What warranty and support applies to the Server Core X50r?
QSC's standard 3-year limited warranty covers the Q-SYS platform. The Dell PowerEdge R570 hardware may carry separate Dell warranty coverage. Creation Networks provides pre-sales architecture consultation, Q-SYS Designer design support, and post-sale technical assistance. Due to the X50r's flagship status, we recommend engaging our team early in the design phase. Contact us at creationnetworks.net.
