Product Overview
The QSC NC-90-G2-BK is a fixed-lens network ePTZ camera designed for smaller, wider collaboration spaces such as huddle rooms and compact conference rooms within Q-SYS-based AV systems. This black-finish variant of the NC-90-G2 delivers AI-driven Active Speaker Framing and a 90° horizontal field of view, making it a strong choice for integrators deploying Q-SYS ePTZ cameras in modern meeting environments. As a native Q-SYS device, it transports video, power, and control data over a single network cable, eliminating the need for video matrix hardware or complex programming. The NC-90-G2-BK is Zoom-certified and integrates directly with all major UC conferencing platforms via driverless USB delivery.
Product Description
The NC-90-G2-BK features a 20 MP 1/1.8" low-noise CMOS sensor with a fixed-focus lens at f=3.59mm, supporting electronic pan, tilt, and zoom up to 5x (3x lossless). Active Speaker Framing uses onboard positioning microphones to continuously locate the active talker and reframe the shot digitally — with full-body recognition to maintain framing even when the speaker turns away from the camera. Tile View composes up to nine simultaneous framed shots from a single camera, offering remote participants a more natural multi-person view without additional hardware. Image rotation control supports inverted or ceiling mounting. Complete imaging controls including white balance (auto, indoor, outdoor, manual, and color temperature), shutter speed, focus, and exposure are all managed within Q-SYS Designer. Preview streams are available at up to 360p H.264. The camera is powered via PoE (Type 1, Class 3) and requires no external power supply. As a native Q-SYS peripheral, it supports drag-and-drop integration, scalable UCI development, and firmware updates via the Q-SYS cryptographically-signed update system. The black finish suits environments with dark ceiling or wall mounting surfaces. A lens privacy cover is included.
Key Features
- Active Speaker Framing — AI-driven camera positioning uses onboard microphones to locate and digitally frame the active talker in real time.
- Full-Body Recognition — Tracks speakers even when they turn away from the camera, keeping participants in frame throughout the session.
- Tile View — Composes up to nine individually framed shots from a single camera, providing multi-participant views for remote attendees.
- 90° Horizontal Field of View — Optimized for smaller, wider rooms where a broad viewing angle is required without mechanical PTZ hardware.
- 20 MP / 1/1.8" CMOS Sensor — High-resolution sensor delivers clean, detailed image quality even in low-light conditions down to 0.5 Lux.
- 5x Digital Zoom (3x Lossless) — Allows flexible framing adjustments without optical zoom mechanics or moving parts.
- Single-Cable Network Simplicity — One Ethernet cable carries video, power, and control data into Q-SYS, eliminating separate power supplies and HDMI runs.
- PoE Powered — Conforms to PoE Type 1, Class 3; no external power supply required.
- Driverless USB Delivery — Delivers a UVC/UAC stream to any UC platform including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet without additional drivers.
- Inverted Mounting Support — Image rotation control allows ceiling or inverted installation without additional configuration.
- Native Q-SYS Integration — Fully managed via Q-SYS Designer with cryptographically-signed firmware updates and intrinsic control and automation support.
- Privacy Lens Cover Included — Physical lens cover ships with the unit for environments requiring visual privacy assurance.
Typical Applications
- Conference room — AI framing and Tile View support active presenter tracking and multi-participant layouts in mid-size Q-SYS meeting rooms.
- Huddle room — The 90° FOV and ePTZ design suit compact collaboration spaces where mechanical PTZ cameras are impractical.
- Boardroom — Black finish integrates visually into dark ceiling or wall surfaces in executive meeting environments.
- Training room — Tile View and Active Speaker Framing automate camera operation in instructor-led training spaces.
- Government space — Native Q-SYS control and AES-encrypted signal transport support secure, managed AV deployments.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the NC-90-G2-BK and the NC-90-G2-WH?
- Both units are functionally identical. The NC-90-G2-BK ships in a black finish suited for dark ceiling or wall mounting surfaces, while the WH variant has a white finish for standard suspended ceiling tile environments.
- Does the NC-90-G2-BK require a separate power supply?
- No. The camera is powered entirely via PoE (Type 1, Class 3) over the same network cable that carries video and control data. A standard PoE switch port is sufficient.
- What UC conferencing platforms are compatible with the NC-90-G2?
- The NC-90-G2 delivers a driverless UVC/UAC USB stream compatible with all major UC platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. It is Zoom-certified.
- Can the NC-90-G2-BK be ceiling-mounted in an inverted orientation?
- Yes. Image rotation control in Q-SYS Designer allows inverted mounting without any additional hardware or accessories.
- How does Active Speaker Framing work?
- Onboard positioning microphones detect the location of the active talker and the camera digitally repositions and reframes to center that person within the shot. Full-body recognition maintains framing even if the speaker turns away from the camera.
- What is the maximum recommended room depth for Active Speaker Framing?
- QSC specifies a maximum recommended subject distance of 26 ft (7.9 m) for reliable Active Speaker Framing performance.
- What is Tile View and how many participants does it support?
- Tile View is a multi-view composition feature that displays up to nine individually framed shots from a single NC-90-G2 camera, giving remote participants a grid-style view of in-room attendees.
- Is the NC-90-G2-BK managed through Q-SYS Designer?
- Yes. As a native Q-SYS device, the NC-90-G2-BK is fully configured and managed within Q-SYS Designer Software, including imaging controls, framing behavior, and firmware updates via cryptographically-signed packages.
