Product Overview
The QSC MPA-Q 8x125 is an eight-channel, 125 W per channel Q-SYS network amplifier designed for medium-power distributed audio applications within the Q-SYS ecosystem. Part of the MPA-Q Series — QSC's mid-power tier in the Q-SYS network amplifier portfolio — the MPA-Q 8x125 delivers the ideal balance of channel count and output power for hospitality, retail, entertainment, and corporate environments where many independently controlled zones are required at moderate power levels. Creation Networks is an authorized QSC dealer supplying and integrating the MPA-Q Series for commercial AV projects nationwide.
Product Description
The MPA-Q 8x125 provides 125 W per channel across eight independently configurable output channels with Lo-Z, Hi-Z, 70 V, and 100 V direct drive available on every channel — no bridging or manual switches required. Eight analog line-level inputs are fully routable into Q-SYS or can drive outputs directly. Two gigabit Ethernet ports provide redundant Q-LAN networked audio, and LAN A optionally accepts PoE (802.3af Type 1) to enable rapid audio restore after a power interruption. Standalone Mode automatically switches to available analog inputs if network connectivity drops, ensuring audio continuity. The full-rack-width, 2RU quiet fan-cooled chassis supports rack or surface mounting and includes four GPI inputs and two NO/NC output relays for control integration. The 8x125 is the highest-channel-count, efficiency-optimized model in the MPA-Q Series, ideal when maximizing zone coverage per rack unit is a design priority.
Key Features
- 8 output channels at 125 W per channel (continuous, all channels driven)
- Lo-Z, Hi-Z, 70 V, and 100 V direct drive on all channels — no bridging or manual switches needed
- 8 analog line-level inputs, fully routable into Q-SYS or direct out
- Two gigabit Ethernet ports for redundant Q-LAN networked audio
- LAN A accepts optional PoE (802.3af Type 1) for quick audio restore after power outage
- Standalone Mode: automatic failover to analog inputs if network connectivity drops
- Analog Mode: bypasses network audio for fully analog amplifier operation with front-panel configuration
- DSP per channel: Gain, Polarity, IIR Filters (HPF, Parametric, Shelf, Array Correction), FIR Filters (1024 taps), Delay (up to 2020 ms), Limiters (narrow-band, RMS, peak)
- 4 GPI inputs and 2 NO/NC output relays for external control integration
- Full-rack-width, 2RU quiet fan-cooled form factor; rack or surface mountable
- 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz universal power input
- Highest channel count in the MPA-Q Series — maximum zone coverage per rack unit
Typical Applications
- Hotels and restaurants with many small-to-medium zones requiring individual volume control
- Retail stores and shopping centers with zone-by-zone background music management
- Corporate offices with multiple conference rooms, lobbies, and common areas
- Entertainment venues with distributed ceiling speaker zones across large floor areas
- Houses of worship with numerous overflow, lobby, and patio audio zones
- Government buildings and campus facilities with widespread paging infrastructure
- Any project where maximizing zone count per amplifier rack unit is a design priority

Frequently Asked Questions
- How does the MPA-Q 8x125 compare to the MPA-Q 8x250?
- Both models offer 8 output channels with the same feature set, connectivity, and DSP capabilities. The key difference is output power: the 8x125 delivers 125 W per channel while the 8x250 delivers 250 W per channel. The 8x125 is the right choice when 125 W is sufficient for the loudspeaker loads in each zone, allowing more zones per amplifier at a lower cost per channel.
- What happens if the network connection drops?
- Standalone Mode automatically switches to the available analog line inputs when network connectivity is lost. Audio resumes from those analog sources without any manual intervention, and switches back to Q-LAN network audio when connectivity is restored.
- Can the MPA-Q 8x125 run independently of a Q-SYS Core?
- Yes. With the rear-panel Mode switch set to Analog Mode, the unit operates as a standard analog amplifier, routing analog inputs directly to outputs. Basic channel parameters (gain, mute, impedance, bridge) are configurable from the front-panel display in this mode.
- Is the MPA-Q 8x125 suitable for 70 V and 100 V distributed speaker systems?
- Yes. All output channels support Lo-Z (2, 4, 8Ω), 70 V, 100 V, and Hi-Z operation, all configurable in Q-SYS Designer Software without any hardware changes.
