Product Overview
The PTZOptics Link 4K 12x PTZ camera is an IP-centric 4K PTZ camera with Dante AV-H integration, designed for conference rooms, boardrooms, training rooms, and other close-to-medium distance production environments. It delivers 4K@60fps over HDMI 2.0, 3G-SDI, USB, and IP streaming simultaneously, with built-in auto-tracking up to 200 feet and PoE+ power for single-cable installation. At $1,999, it is PTZOptics' most accessible entry point into the Dante-enabled Link 4K platform.
Product Description
The PTZOptics Link 4K 12x (PT12X-LINK-4K-GY) uses a 1/2.5-inch Sony CMOS sensor with 8.51 effective megapixels and a 12x optical zoom lens covering a wide 72.5-degree horizontal field of view — ideal for capturing full-room coverage in compact to medium-sized spaces. The camera outputs 4K@60fps over HDMI 2.0 and simultaneously delivers 3G-SDI, USB 2.0, and IP streaming via RTSP, RTMP, and SRT, enabling flexible signal distribution across SDI infrastructure, software production tools, and CDN delivery in a single device. Dante AV-H integration allows the camera to participate fully in Dante-networked facilities, routing two channels of audio over the network and receiving audio from other Dante sources via the 3.5mm output. VISCA over IP control provides compatibility with OBS, vMix, Wirecast, Tricaster, Livestream Studio, and the Elgato StreamDeck, covering the full range of production software used in corporate, education, and government AV environments. The built-in Presenter-Lock auto-tracking system follows a specific individual up to 200 feet, suitable for classrooms, training rooms, and small auditoriums. PoE+ (802.3at) power and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity simplify installation, particularly for ceiling or wall mounts where running a separate power cable is impractical. With 255 preset positions at 0.1-degree accuracy and a ±170-degree pan range, the camera supports multi-angle production workflows without manual repositioning. NDAA 2019 Section 889 compliance qualifies it for government and federally funded education procurement. A 5-year limited parts and labor warranty covers the camera for the full lifecycle of a standard AV installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who should choose the 12x over the 20x or 30x Link 4K?
A: The 12x is best suited for small to medium rooms where subjects are typically within 30 to 60 feet of the camera. Its 72.5-degree wide field of view provides full-room coverage without repositioning. If the deployment requires tracking subjects at 100 feet or more, the 20x or 30x model is more appropriate.
Q: Does the Link 4K 12x output 4K over all its connections simultaneously?
A: The HDMI 2.0 output delivers 4K@60fps. The 3G-SDI output is limited to 1080p per the 3G-SDI standard. USB 2.0 and IP outputs support lower resolutions for bandwidth efficiency. All outputs operate simultaneously.
Q: Can the Link 4K 12x be used in a Zoom Room?
A: Yes. The USB 2.0 output presents the camera as a standard USB video device, compatible with Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, and other video conferencing platforms. VISCA over IP also enables far-end PTZ camera control within supported Zoom configurations.
Q: Is a Dante controller required for Dante AV-H?
A: Dante AV-H is managed through Dante Controller software (free from Audinate) on a networked computer. No dedicated hardware controller is required. The camera will automatically appear in Dante Controller for routing configuration when connected to the network.
Q: What is the minimum illumination requirement for the Link 4K 12x?
A: The camera operates at 0.5 Lux minimum illumination with automatic gain control enabled, making it suitable for low-light environments such as dimly lit conference rooms or worship spaces during services.
Q: How many preset positions does the camera support?
A: The Link 4K 12x supports 255 preset positions, each recalled with 0.1-degree accuracy. Presets can be stored and triggered via IR remote, VISCA serial, VISCA over IP, or compatible production software.
Q: Does the camera require a static IP address?
A: The camera defaults to DHCP for automatic IP assignment on most networks. It can also be configured with a static IP address using the PTZOptics Upgrade Tool or the on-camera web interface, which is recommended for permanent installations.
