The Panamax MR5100 delivers three distinct layers of protection for AV rack systems. The first is AVM (Automatic Voltage Monitoring) — patented circuitry that continuously monitors incoming line voltage and displays the level on a front-panel LED voltmeter. If an undervoltage (brownout) or overvoltage condition is detected, the MR5100 displays a flashing red lightning bolt alert and automatically disconnects power to all 11 connected outlets. When voltage returns to a safe level, it reconnects automatically, protecting equipment from sustained exposure to unsafe voltage conditions.
The second protection layer is Protect or Disconnect, Panamax's technology for handling catastrophic surge events such as lightning strikes. When the surge protection circuitry is overwhelmed by an extreme event, it instantly disconnects AC power to connected equipment — rather than attempting to absorb the surge through components that can fail — then reconnects when the event passes.
