The Panamax M8-AV is an 8-outlet standalone power conditioner that protects home theater and AV equipment from AC surges, coaxial signal transients, and telephone line surges. It includes Panamax's AVM (Automatic Voltage Monitoring) circuitry and RFI/EMI noise filtration, making it a meaningful upgrade from a basic surge strip for AV systems.
Product Description
The M8-AV provides eight widely-spaced AC outlets on a 6-foot captive cord, along with coaxial F-connector passthrough for cable, satellite, or antenna signal lines, and an RJ-11 telephone jack for phone line surge suppression. Panamax's AVM circuitry monitors incoming line voltage and disconnects equipment if voltage strays into unsafe over- or under-voltage territory, reconnecting automatically when the line stabilizes — protecting against brownout conditions that a standard surge strip cannot address. RFI/EMI filtration attenuates power line noise to help AV equipment deliver cleaner output. The Protect or Disconnect circuit completely severs AC power during a catastrophic surge such as a lightning strike, rated at 1,650 joules and a peak impulse current of 52,000 amps.
