The Panamax VT-EXT16 is a 16-outlet vertical power strip designed to mount to the vertical rail section of an equipment rack, extending outlet capacity without consuming any front-panel rack units. It is intended to be used in conjunction with an existing Panamax or Furman power management unit, sharing that unit's surge protection and AC line filtering when connected downstream. The VT-EXT16 is a practical solution for AV system integrators who need to add significant outlet density to a rack build without installing an additional power conditioner.

Product Description

The VT-EXT16 provides 16 AC outlets distributed along a 36-inch steel housing that attaches to the rear vertical leg of a standard equipment rack. Eight of the 16 outlets are transformer-spaced to accommodate oversized wall-wart power adapters commonly found in AV and networking equipment. The included heavy-duty 14 AWG, 10-foot detachable power cord connects the strip to an upstream power conditioner or directly to a wall circuit, and features a security retention bracket to prevent accidental disconnection. Plastic spacers integrated into the mounting clip hardware provide ground isolation between the strip and the rack frame, preventing ground loops that can introduce hum into audio systems. The 12A resettable circuit breaker provides fault protection and eliminates the need to replace fuses after a trip event. The VT-EXT16 does not provide independent surge protection or noise filtration — it functions as a power distribution extension, inheriting any protection from the upstream Panamax or Furman unit it is connected to.
