Product Overview
The Sharp NEC NP21ZL is a 5.31 to 8.26:1 long zoom projector lens, one of six optional lenses for NEC PX Series installation projectors. It is the choice for extreme-distance projection installations — large auditoriums, arenas, exhibition halls, and houses of worship where the projector must be mounted far from the screen. The lens installs without special tools, giving AV integrators a fast way to adapt a PX Series large-venue projector to long-throw room geometry.
Product Description
When a projection booth, rear truss, or back-of-house position sits five to eight screen-widths from the screen, standard and medium-throw optics cannot deliver a correctly sized image. The NP21ZL solves this with a 5.31 to 8.26:1 throw ratio, an f/1.85 to f/2.48 aperture, and a 78.5 to 121.9 mm focal length that hold brightness and edge-to-edge sharpness at long distances. This makes it a dependable long-throw lens for fixed installation projection systems and rental and staging inventories alike.
The NP21ZL is compatible with the NEC NP-PX700W/PX750U/PX800X, NP-PX700W2/PX750U2/PX800X2, NP-PX803UL-BK/PX803UL-WH, and NP-PX1004UL-BK/PX1004UL-WH installation projectors. Lens shift aligns the projected image to the screen without tilting the projector body, preserving optical geometry and eliminating the resolution loss that digital keystone correction introduces — an important consideration in high-resolution commercial AV installations. Because the lens is user-installable with no special tools, integrators can standardize on the PX Series projector platform and exchange optics per venue, reducing inventory cost across multi-room deployments. For installations with shorter throw requirements on the same projector family, the Sharp NEC NP19ZL medium-throw zoom lens covers the 2.22 to 3.67:1 range.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which projectors accept the NP21ZL lens?
The NP21ZL fits NEC PX Series installation projectors: NP-PX700W, PX750U, PX800X, the PX700W2/PX750U2/PX800X2 second-generation models, the PX803UL laser projectors, and the PX1004UL laser projectors.
How far back can the projector be mounted with the NP21ZL?
The 5.31 to 8.26:1 throw ratio places the projector roughly 5.3 to 8.3 times the screen width from the screen. For a 12-foot-wide screen, that is approximately 64 to 99 feet of throw distance — suited to rear projection booths in large venues.
Does the NP21ZL support lens shift?
Yes. Lens shift repositions the image on the screen optically, without tilting the projector, which avoids the resolution loss caused by digital keystone correction.
Can I install the lens myself?
Yes. The NP21ZL is designed for end-user installation with no special tools. After mounting, run the projector's lens calibration before final image alignment.
Is this the same lens as the NP21ZL-4K?
No. The NP21ZL fits the PX Series projectors listed above, while the NP21ZL-4K is built for the PX1005QL 4K laser platform. Confirm your projector model before ordering, or contact Creation Networks and we will verify compatibility.
