The Middle Atlantic SW is a pack of 100 black nylon shoulder washers designed to electrically isolate rack-mount equipment from rackrails. Used in conjunction with the pre-installed washers on Middle Atlantic rack screws, these shoulder washers help prevent ground loops by breaking the electrical path between the equipment chassis and the rack frame. The pack contains 100 pieces. Note: not for use with HPQ, HP-6mm, or HP-24 screws.
Product Description
The Middle Atlantic SW shoulder washers are black nylon insulators used to electrically isolate rack-mount equipment from the rackrail structure. Ground loops are a common source of audio hum and interference in professional AV systems, often caused by multiple chassis being conductively connected through a shared ground path via the rack rails and mounting screws. By placing nylon shoulder washers between the equipment mounting ear and the rackrail hole, the equipment chassis is electrically isolated from the rail, breaking the conductive path that can form ground loops. The SW washers work together with the pre-installed washers on Middle Atlantic rack screws for full isolation at each mounting point. Each pack contains 100 pieces.
