The Middle Atlantic SSDR-16 is a 16-space split security door that locks down a select portion of a rack while leaving the rest open for everyday access. The keylocked, solid-style steel door creates an “installer zone” for equipment that must be protected from tampering, with client-accessed gear remaining in the open “user zone.” On RK and BRK Series racks, the same door can also serve as a full front door, making it a flexible security upgrade for residential and commercial AV installations.

Product Description

Many rack installations have a mix of equipment: amplifiers, network hardware, and processors that only the integrator should touch, alongside media players or user-facing devices the client operates daily. A full rack door secures everything but blocks the client from their own gear; no door secures nothing. The SSDR-16 split security door resolves this by covering a 16-space section of the rack with a keylocked solid panel while the remainder of the rack stays open.

The zoning approach is straightforward. Equipment that needs protection mounts behind the door in the installer zone, where the key lock keeps unauthorized users from changing settings, unplugging cables, or removing components. Equipment the client operates mounts in the open user zone, so day-to-day use never requires a key or a service call. This split layout reduces accidental misconfiguration and the support visits that follow.

Construction is sturdy steel with a black powder coat finish that matches Middle Atlantic rack enclosures. On RK and BRK Series racks, the SSDR-16 can be applied as a full door, covering the rack face entirely when complete front security is the goal.
