The Middle Atlantic RSH4S5S is the shallow-depth member of the 5U custom rackshelf family, pairing an 11.5" shelf with a textured black powder-coat steel face plate. The face plate is custom-cut by Middle Atlantic to fit the specific non-rackmount component you specify, so the device installs in a standard 19" rack or enclosure without any modification to the rack. It is the right pick when rack depth is limited or the mounted device has a compact chassis.

Product Description

Not every device that belongs in a rack needs a full-depth shelf. Cable boxes, small media players, modems, and compact signal processors often measure well under a foot deep, and putting them on a 20" shelf wastes usable rack depth and complicates cable management behind shallow credenza and wall-mount racks. The RSH4S5S addresses exactly this case with its 11.5" shelf — the S depth code, the shallowest in the RSH4S series.

As with every RSH Rackshelf with Textured Face Plate model, you specify the component when ordering and the steel face plate arrives cut to frame its front panel, producing a finished, gap-free rack elevation rather than an open shelf. The unit spans 5 rack spaces (8.75" of vertical height) and mounts to standard 19" EIA rack rails. The textured black powder-coat finish matches typical Middle Atlantic enclosures and filler panels; deeper 17.5" and 20.5" versions, wide formats, and the anodized RSH4A equivalents are all available through the Middle Atlantic collection at Creation Networks.
