Product Overview
The Middle Atlantic KO-CRD-FAN is a 4" fan with guard designed for installation in configurable solid CRD rear doors on WRK, MRK, and ERK series enclosures. It installs after laser knockouts are removed from the door, providing active airflow directly through the rear door panel. This fan kit converts a passive solid door into an active thermal management access point without replacing the door. It is compatible with standard and split solid rear door configurations.
Product Description
The KO-CRD-FAN fan kit is part of Middle Atlantic's thermal management accessory line for CRD-series configurable rear doors. These doors feature laser-cut knockouts that allow integrators to add fans, vents, or filter kits after initial installation, providing flexibility to adapt thermal management as rack loads change over time. The KO-CRD-FAN installs into the knockout opening, adding active airflow through the rear door panel without requiring door replacement. The fan guard protects equipment and personnel from contact with the moving fan blade. Two fans and two vents are included in the kit, providing a balanced active airflow configuration through the CRD door. This kit is compatible with solid split rear doors, enabling thermal management on split-door configurations used in larger enclosures. The KO-CRD-FAN is commonly specified when rack equipment loads increase after initial installation and passive ventilation through vented doors or vent panels is no longer sufficient. It is also specified proactively in high-density rack designs where active door ventilation is required from day one. Installation requires removal of the laser knockout, insertion of the fan assembly, and connection to a standard AC power source.
