Product Overview

The Middle Atlantic K-DEC is a Decora-mount remote keyswitch that provides key-controlled initiation of up/down power sequencing. It connects to the Middle Atlantic USC-6R Universal Sequencing Controller through an RJ-45 jack and terminal block, and also works with MPR-SEQ, MPR-SEQ-1C, and PDS Series power sequencing products. Because the switch requires a key, system power-up and shutdown stay limited to authorized users. The Decora form factor mounts in Decora-shaped openings on Middle Atlantic panels and racks.

Product Description

In shared spaces such as schools, churches, courtrooms, and rental venues, uncontrolled access to system power is a real operational risk: an untrained user shutting equipment down out of order can damage loudspeakers and disrupt events. The K-DEC addresses this by putting power sequencing behind a physical key. Turning the key initiates the up or down sequence on a connected Middle Atlantic sequencing product, bringing the system online or offline in the correct order every time. Wiring to the USC-6R Universal Sequencing Controller is handled through a convenient RJ-45 jack and terminal block, and the keyswitch is also compatible with MPR-SEQ, MPR-SEQ-1C, and PDS Series products. Status LED indication is provided on switches in this family for at-a-glance system state. As a Decora-mount device, the K-DEC installs only in Middle Atlantic products with Decora-shaped openings, including Decora device panels and rack openings. Where open access is acceptable, the companion S-DEC provides the same sequencing control without the key. For facilities that need accountable, restricted control of AV system power, the K-DEC is the appropriate choice.
