The twisted conductors minimize the AC magnetic field that the cord generates, reducing inductive interference with sensitive audio and video signals in nearby cables. A blue stripe identifies it as a SignalSAFE cord. Sold as a single-cord pack.
Product Description
Standard parallel-conductor IEC power cords create a measurable AC magnetic field around the cable as current flows through the conductors. In AV racks where power cords run parallel to signal cables, this field can induce hum or interference into audio and video circuits. Middle Atlantic's SignalSAFE IEC cords address this by twisting the conductors together throughout the cord's length. The twisting causes the fields from each conductor to cancel each other out over short distances, significantly reducing the cord's radiated field strength. The heavy 14-gauge wire construction handles the current demands of typical rack-mount AV equipment while remaining flexible. At 72 inches (6 feet), the cord provides enough length to route neatly inside most rack enclosures. The blue stripe on the jacket provides quick visual identification in a rack where multiple cord types may be present. Saves space at the back of the rack compared to bulkier power cord solutions.
