The Middle Atlantic ERK-VRD Series is a vented rear door for ERK Series equipment racks, built from steel with a black finish. The fully perforated door provides 25% open area, supporting rear-of-rack airflow for heat-producing AV and IT equipment. Field-reversible hinging lets installers swing the door from the right or left to match room layout. Six sizes cover ERK rack heights from 18 to 44 rack units.
Product Description
Enclosed equipment racks need a path for heat to leave, and a vented rear door is one of the simplest ways to provide it. The ERK-VRD Series replaces or completes the rear of a Middle Atlantic ERK Series rack with a fully perforated steel door offering 25% open area across its surface. That perforation pattern allows warm exhaust air from amplifiers, network switches, servers, and power equipment to escape the rear of the enclosure, whether the rack relies on passive convection or active fan-driven ventilation. The door is steel throughout and finished in black to match the ERK enclosure. Because equipment rooms rarely cooperate with a fixed door swing, the ERK-VRD can be hinged on either the right or left side, letting the installer choose the swing direction that keeps the rear of the rack accessible in tight closets and corner placements. The series is offered in six heights — 18, 21, 27, 35, 40, and 44 rack spaces — so the door matches the ERK rack it secures. For integrators specifying ERK racks for commercial AV, security, or network installations, adding a vented rear door closes off the enclosure while preserving the airflow the equipment load requires.
