Between the shallow 3.5-inch and deep 11.5-inch versions of Middle Atlantic's UMS series sits the UMS1-5.5K, a 5.5-inch-deep universal rack shelf kit that covers the bulk of small AV devices: transmitters, receivers, audio interfaces, and half-rack processors. The full-width 19-inch steel shelf occupies a single rack space and mounts small items in either the front or the rear of the rack, with counter-sunk holes positioned to match popular Extron device footprints for direct, hardware-secured mounting. A black powder-coated finish keeps the shelf consistent with surrounding rack equipment. The kit approach saves a second order: four partial blank panels, 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 widths along with a 1/8-height panel, are included to close gaps around mounted devices, improving the finished appearance and supporting proper thermal management. The 1/8-space panel mounts with tape while the 1/4 and 1/2 versions attach with supplied 4-40 screws. Fastening hardware for the devices themselves is also in the box: 3/16-inch flat head screws, sixteen #4 and four #6.
