Product Overview

The Meyer Sound Bluehorn Subwoofer is the low-frequency extension element of a Bluehorn System channel. Paired with a Bluehorn full-range loudspeaker and driven by the Bluehorn 816 processor, it carries the system down to a linear 22 Hz with phase held within ±45° across the full 25 Hz–22 kHz band — the specification that separates Bluehorn from conventional monitor-plus-subwoofer combinations, where the crossover region and the low end are where phase accuracy is usually lost.

Product Description

The cabinet houses a single 18-inch cone driver in a tuned enclosure with an integral single-channel Class D amplifier producing 900 W peak and distortion below 0.02 percent. Cooling is convection through a recessed heat sink, so there is no fan noise in a mastering room or screening room. Correction is handled upstream by the Bluehorn 816 Processor, which treats the subwoofer and its companion Bluehorn full-range cabinet as a single phase-linear channel rather than two separately aligned boxes.

One Bluehorn Subwoofer is used per system channel. Additional Meyer Sound residential and cinema products are available in the Meyer Sound Residential collection.

Key Features

  • 18-Inch Cone Driver — A single long-excursion 18-inch driver in a tuned, self-powered enclosure.
  • Phase-Linear Integration — Corrected by the Bluehorn 816 as part of a single channel, not aligned as a separate subwoofer.
  • Integral Class D Amplification — Single-channel amplifier producing 900 W peak with THD/IM/TIM below 0.02 percent.
  • Extended Low Frequency — Takes system response to a linear 22 Hz ±4 dB.
  • Convection Cooling — Recessed heat sink, no fan noise in critical listening spaces.
  • Matched Enclosure — Premium multi-ply birch with textured black finish and black cloth grille frame to match the Bluehorn cabinet.

Typical Applications

  • Mastering and mixing studios
  • Film scoring and post-production stages
  • Screening rooms and residential cinema

Frequently Asked Questions

How many subwoofers does a Bluehorn channel need?
One Bluehorn Subwoofer per channel, paired with one Bluehorn full-range loudspeaker.

Can the Bluehorn Subwoofer be used with other Meyer Sound loudspeakers?
It is engineered specifically as part of a Bluehorn channel under Bluehorn 816 processing. For general-purpose low-frequency extension, look at the X-400C, X-800C or USW series subwoofers instead.

Is it self-powered?
Yes. A single-channel Class D amplifier rated at 900 W peak is built into the cabinet.

How do I get pricing?
Bluehorn systems are configured per room. Contact Creation Networks for system design and a project quote.
