Product Overview

The Meyer Sound Bluehorn is the two-way, full-range self-powered loudspeaker at the heart of the Bluehorn System, a reference monitoring platform built for work where the mix has nowhere to hide. Patented digital signal processing in the companion Bluehorn 816 processor corrects frequency and phase across the entire audible band, giving the system linear response from 25 Hz to 22 kHz with phase held within ±45°. A complete Bluehorn channel pairs this full-range cabinet with a Bluehorn Subwoofer for low-frequency extension; up to three channels connect to a single Bluehorn 816 processor.

Product Description

Each Bluehorn cabinet houses one 12-inch cone driver and one 4-inch compression driver on a horn providing 80° horizontal by 50° vertical coverage, driven by an integral two-channel Class D amplifier producing 1300 W peak with distortion below 0.02 percent. Because amplification, transduction and correction are engineered as one system, the phase linearity that conventional monitors sacrifice at the crossover and in the low end is preserved — transients arrive intact and stereo and immersive imaging stays stable as level changes.

The Bluehorn is intended for mastering, mixing, film scoring and post-production, and for reference-grade screening rooms and residential cinema where the goal is to hear the program exactly as it was created. It requires a Bluehorn 816 Processor and is normally deployed with a Bluehorn Subwoofer per channel. Additional Meyer Sound residential and cinema products are available in the Meyer Sound Residential collection.

Key Features

  • Phase-Linear System Response — Patented processing delivers 25 Hz–22 kHz linear frequency and phase response as a complete system.
  • Two-Way Full-Range Design — One 12-inch cone driver and one 4-inch compression driver in a tuned, self-powered cabinet.
  • Integral Class D Amplification — Two-channel amplifier producing 1300 W peak with THD/IM/TIM below 0.02 percent.
  • Controlled Coverage — 80° horizontal by 50° vertical pattern for consistent response across the listening position.
  • Convection Cooling — Recessed heat sink cooling with no fan noise in the critical listening environment.
  • Scalable to Three Channels — Up to three Bluehorn channels connect to a single Bluehorn 816 processor.
  • Low System Latency — Under 50 ms end to end, suitable for tracking and live-to-picture work.

Typical Applications

  • Mastering and mixing studios
  • Film scoring and post-production stages
  • Screening rooms and residential cinema
  • Research and reference listening

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Bluehorn be used on its own?
No. A Bluehorn channel requires the Bluehorn 816 Processor, which performs the phase and frequency correction, and is normally paired with a Bluehorn Subwoofer for full-bandwidth reproduction.

How many Bluehorn channels does one processor support?
Up to three channels connect to a single Bluehorn 816 processor.

Is the Bluehorn self-powered?
Yes. Each cabinet includes a two-channel Class D amplifier rated at 1300 W peak, so no external amplifier is required.

How do I get pricing?
Bluehorn systems are configured per room. Contact Creation Networks for system design and a project quote.
