Product Overview

The Martin Audio CDD8B is an ultra-compact passive two-way on-wall loudspeaker in black (RAL9005), housing an 8" (200mm) LF / 1" (25mm) exit HF Coaxial Differential Dispersion driver in a 14-litre UPM Formi composite enclosure. Its compact dimensions belie a high output capability that makes it applicable across a wide range of commercial AV installations — from bars and nightclubs to museums, hotels, and houses of worship. The CDD8B functions as a standalone speaker or as an infill loudspeaker in distributed systems alongside larger CDD12 and CDD15 models. The full Martin Audio CDD series is available at Creation Networks.

Product Description

The Martin Audio CDD8B's Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology achieves point-source acoustic summation through the 2.3kHz passive crossover, delivering consistent tonal balance across the 110°–80° horizontal and 60° vertical coverage pattern. A static waveguide integrated within the driver assembly maintains dispersion consistency through the high-frequency range, preventing the progressive HF beaming that limits performance in standard coaxial designs. The user-rotatable drive unit allows dispersion orientation to be switched between horizontal and vertical in the field simply by removing the screw-free perforated steel grille. Power handling is rated at 200W AES (800W peak) with 94dB sensitivity and 117dB maximum continuous SPL — performance that supports both foreground and background music applications in medium-noise commercial environments. The curved enclosure can be surface-mounted close to walls or ceilings via optional Martin Audio wall and ceiling brackets, with the curved rear profile allowing bracket-free angled positioning against flat surfaces in some configurations. Input and link output connections use low-profile 13A push-lock terminals for daisy-chain wiring in multi-speaker systems. Six rear M6 inserts accept optional wall and ceiling mounting hardware. For installations requiring optimized DSP control and limiter protection, the CDD8B is fully compatible with the Martin Audio DX4.0 networked system controller and iKON amplifier platform, with factory-tuned DSP and FIR presets. When deployed as an infill within a larger CDD system, the CDD8B's matching Differential Dispersion driver character ensures tonal continuity across coverage zones. The white variant is the CDD8W, available at creationnetworks.net.

Key Features

  • Coaxial Differential Dispersion Technology — Point-source LF/HF summation eliminates off-axis tonal variation through the crossover region for consistent audience coverage.
  • Static HF Waveguide — Maintains dispersion pattern at high frequencies, preventing beaming common in standard coaxial designs.
  • User-Rotatable Drive Unit — Dispersion orientation (110°–80° horizontal or 60° vertical) adjustable in the field without tools.
  • Ultra-Compact 14-Litre Enclosure — Minimal footprint for discreet architectural integration in visually sensitive commercial spaces.
  • 200W AES / 800W Peak Power Handling — Supports foreground and background music levels in commercial environments with moderate amplifier power.
  • 94dB Sensitivity, 117dB Continuous SPL — Efficient operation from mid-range commercial amplifiers; adequate headroom for environments with elevated ambient noise.
  • Infill System Capability — Compatible with CDD12 and CDD15 as a distributed system infill loudspeaker for coverage gap-filling.
  • Six Rear M6 Inserts — Accepts Martin Audio optional wall and ceiling bracket hardware for flexible surface mounting.
  • DX4.0 and iKON Amplifier Compatibility — Factory DSP/FIR presets available for optimized frequency response and integrated limiter protection.
  • Black (RAL9005) Textured Finish — Discreet finish for dark ceilings, nightclub environments, and architectural surfaces; white variant available as CDD8W.

Typical Applications

  • House of worship
  • Multi-purpose room
  • Commercial meeting space

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the CDD8B function as an infill in a larger CDD system?
Yes. Martin Audio specifically positions the CDD8B for infill use alongside CDD12 and CDD15 primary speakers in distributed systems. The matching Coaxial Differential Dispersion driver technology ensures tonal continuity across all coverage zones.
What amplifier is recommended?
The CDD8B is rated at 200W AES. An amplifier delivering 300–500W into 8Ω provides adequate headroom. For DSP-optimized performance, the Martin Audio DX4.0 controller with iKON amplifier provides factory presets and integrated limiter protection.
How does the CDD8B differ from the CDD8W?
The CDD8B and CDD8W are acoustically identical. The CDD8B is finished in black (RAL9005); the CDD8W in white (RAL9016). Both are available individually (not as a pair) at Creation Networks.
Can the CDD8B be ceiling-mounted?
Yes. Optional wall and ceiling brackets from Martin Audio accept the six rear M6 inserts. The curved enclosure also positions the speaker close to flat surfaces when bracket-mounted. Contact Creation Networks for compatible bracket models.
Is the CDD8B suitable for nightclub or bar environments?
Yes. With 117dB continuous SPL, 800W peak handling, and a compact enclosure that mounts discretely on walls or ceilings, the CDD8B handles the foreground music levels required in bars, nightclubs, and live music venues at this enclosure size.
Does the CDD8B require an external crossover?
No. A 2.3kHz passive crossover is integrated within the enclosure. Connect directly to a power amplifier output; no external crossover hardware is required.
What warranty applies?
Martin Audio products carry a standard manufacturer warranty. Contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net for warranty terms and dealer support.
