Product Overview
The Martin Audio SXCF118-W is the white finish variant of the SXCF118B cardioid flown subwoofer, engineered for rigged deployment within WPS Wavefront Precision line array systems where maximum LF output and directional low-frequency pattern control are simultaneously required. The white finish supports colour-matched integration in permanent install venues with light-coloured architectural interiors. The dual-driver cardioid architecture achieves 28dB of rear rejection at 75Hz through independently amplified and DSP-processed forward 18" and rear 14" driver systems.
Product Description
The SXCF118-W implements the same cardioid flown subwoofer architecture as the SXCF118B: a forward-facing 18" (460mm)/4" (100mm) voice coil driver and a rear-facing 14" (356mm)/3.5" (88mm) voice coil driver, each in its own chamber with individually optimised bass reflex porting, driven by independent amplifier channels and DSP. This produces a cardioid dispersion pattern with 28dB of rear rejection at 75Hz — maximising front-hemisphere LF output toward the audience and significantly reducing LF radiation to stage, rear walls, and reverberant room surfaces. The white finish is specified for permanent install environments where black hardware is architecturally incompatible, including theatres, concert halls, and houses of worship with light interior finishes. As the flown variant, the SXCF118-W is designed for integration within rigged WPS line array configurations in permanent venues. The tour-grade plywood enclosure meets the structural demands of rigged deployment. For portable ground-stack cardioid applications in white finish, the SXC118-W is the appropriate selection.
Key Features
- White Finish — Colour-matched integration for light-coloured permanent install architectural environments.
- Cardioid Flown Subwoofer — Designed for rigged deployment within WPS line array systems.
- 28dB Rear Rejection at 75Hz — Minimises rear-stage LF radiation and reverberant LF energy buildup.
- Forward 18" Driver — 460mm/4" voice coil driver maximises front-hemisphere LF output.
- Rear 14" Driver — 356mm/3.5" voice coil driver creates cardioid cancellation in the rear hemisphere.
- Separate Chambers with Optimised Porting — Each driver operates in its own independently tuned bass reflex chamber.
- Tour-Grade Plywood Enclosure — Structural durability appropriate for rigged permanent installation.
Typical Applications
- Flown cardioid LF reinforcement in theatres and concert halls with light-coloured architectural interiors
- House of worship flown subwoofer systems with pattern control and white finish requirements
- Live event venues with WPS line array systems and white finish hardware specifications
- Auditoriums and multi-purpose performance rooms with reverberant acoustics
- Broadcast studios and government facilities requiring controlled LF pattern in light-finish environments
- Corporate AV permanent installs with white finish specifications

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the SXCF118B and SXCF118-W?
- The SXCF118-W is acoustically identical to the SXCF118B. The only difference is the white finish for colour-matched permanent installation in light-coloured architectural environments.
- What is the difference between the SXCF118-W (flown) and the SXC118-W (portable)?
- The SXCF118-W is the rigged variant, optimised for integration within flown WPS line array configurations. The SXC118-W is the portable ground-stack variant with flying inserts, suited to touring and portable cardioid deployments.
- Does the SXCF118-W require specialised amplification?
- Yes. The forward and rear drivers require independent amplifier channels with DSP processing for cardioid pattern formation.
