Product Overview

The Martin Audio SXCF115 is a compact cardioid flown subwoofer designed for rigged deployment with WPM flown line arrays and TORUS 8 constant curvature arrays, as well as point source systems where directional low-frequency pattern control is required. A forward-facing 15" (380mm) driver and a rear-facing 12" (300mm) driver — each driven by independent amplifier channels and DSP — produce a cardioid dispersion pattern with rear rejection from 21dB at 43Hz to 28dB at 75Hz, delivering 137dB peak SPL from a 15" cardioid flown platform. Birch ply construction with four grab handles, interlocking skids, and M8 castor inserts supports flexible deployment across singly stacked, pole-mounted, and flown configurations.

Product Description

The SXCF115 implements cardioid subwoofer technology in a 15" flown platform, providing system designers with a smaller and lighter cardioid flown option compared to the 18" SXCF118B series. The forward-facing 15" (380mm)/4" (100mm) voice coil driver with long-excursion ferrite magnet and waterproof cone provides front-hemisphere LF output, while the rear-facing 12" (300mm)/4" (100mm) voice coil driver with long-excursion neodymium magnet provides rear-hemisphere cancellation. Both drivers operate in separately chambered, individually tuned bass reflex enclosures. The recommended iK42 amplifier optimises DSP parameters for both drivers to maximise rear rejection across the operating range. Front-hemisphere outputs from both drivers combine additively to deliver 137dB peak — 2dB more than a conventional single 15" subwoofer — while rear rejection ranges from 21dB at 43Hz to 28dB at 75Hz. This dual-hemisphere control keeps low-frequency energy away from stages, rear walls, and reflective surfaces, reducing reverberant LF energy in the room and improving overall LF accuracy and transient impact. The birch ply enclosure with textured black paint, foam-backed perforated steel grilles on both front and rear driver positions, and full rigging accessory support make the SXCF115 appropriate for WPM and TORUS 8 array complement as well as point source system LF extensions. An input cover accessory provides weather resistance for outdoor deployment. Castor inserts accept optional castors for extended ground-stack transport.

Key Features

  • Cardioid Flown Subwoofer — Designed for rigged deployment with WPM line arrays and TORUS 8 constant curvature arrays.
  • 21–28dB Rear Rejection (43–75Hz) — Minimises rear-stage LF radiation and reverberant LF buildup across the operating range.
  • 137dB Peak SPL — 2dB additional output versus a conventional single 15" subwoofer through additive front-hemisphere driver combination.
  • Forward 15" Ferrite Driver — 380mm/4" voice coil, long excursion, waterproof cone for front-hemisphere LF output.
  • Rear 12" Neodymium Driver — 300mm/4" voice coil, long excursion, waterproof cone for rear-hemisphere cardioid cancellation.
  • Separate Chambered Bass Reflex Enclosures — Each driver operates in its own independently optimised reflex chamber.
  • Weather Resistance Option — Input cover accessory enables outdoor deployment.
  • Flexible Deployment — Supports singly stacked, pole-mounted (M20 thread plate), castor-wheeled, and rigged flown configurations.

Typical Applications

  • Flown cardioid LF complement for WPM line array systems
  • TORUS 8 constant curvature array LF reinforcement
  • Point source system cardioid LF extension
  • Theatre sound requiring directional LF pattern control
  • House of worship flown LF with rear-stage rejection requirements
  • Live event venues and nightclubs requiring controlled LF pattern in challenging acoustics

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the SXCF115 and the SXCF118B?
The SXCF115 uses a 15" forward driver and 12" rear driver, producing a smaller and lighter cardioid flown platform suited to WPM and TORUS 8 arrays. The SXCF118B uses an 18" forward and 14" rear driver, providing higher absolute output for WPS line array applications.
What amplifier is recommended for the SXCF115?
Martin Audio recommends the iK42 amplifier, which is pre-configured with DSP parameters that optimise the front and rear driver balance for maximum cardioid rear rejection.
Does the SXCF115 require specialised amplification?
Yes. The forward and rear drivers each require an independent amplifier channel with DSP processing. The iK42 four-channel amplifier is the recommended solution.
Can the SXCF115 be used outdoors?
Yes. An input cover accessory makes the SXCF115 weather resistant for outdoor deployment. Both driver cones are waterproof.
What deployment configurations does the SXCF115 support?
The SXCF115 supports singly stacked (with interlocking skids), pole-mounted (M20 thread plate in top surface), castor-wheeled (optional), and rigged flown configurations via the accessory rigging hardware.
Is a white version available?
Yes. The SXCF115-W is the white finish variant for colour-matched permanent installations.
