Product Overview

The Magewell Pro Convert HDMI TX is a standalone NDI encoder designed to bring legacy HDMI sources into IP video workflows over standard Ethernet infrastructure. AV integrators and IT managers use this device to connect cameras, presentation systems, and video sources into NDI-enabled networks without requiring a capture host PC. Supporting resolutions up to 2048x1200 at 60fps, the Pro Convert HDMI TX delivers low-latency, Full NDI High Bandwidth streams compatible with any NDI-enabled production or distribution platform, including vMix, OBS, and NDI Studio Monitor.

Product Description

Magewell Pro Convert HDMI TX – Standalone NDI Encoder

The Pro Convert HDMI TX serves as the transmitter node in an NDI-based IP video distribution system, converting a single HDMI 1.4 or DVI-D input signal into a Full NDI stream routable across any standard IP network. Deployed in conference rooms, broadcast studios, government facilities, and house of worship installations, it enables AV systems designers to extend video distribution over existing network infrastructure without dedicated video cabling runs. The device uses DHCP for automatic network configuration and includes a browser-based web GUI for remote management — accessible via HTTPS from any modern browser. PTZ camera control via VISCA, PELCO-P, and PELCO-D protocols is available through the Mini-DIN 8 port, making this unit appropriate for remotely operated camera positions in all-hands rooms and auditoriums. IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet eliminates the need for a separate power run at the installation point. The unit runs on NDI 6.2 and supports sending NDI streams across network segments, which is critical for multi-VLAN enterprise deployments. Crestron and Q-SYS plugins are available for integrators building control system automation around the device. The onboard 16-position rotary DIP switch allows board-index assignment from 0 to F, which simplifies identification in multi-device installations without requiring software configuration.

Key Features

  • NDI 6.2 Encoding — Outputs Full NDI High Bandwidth streams at up to 2048x1200 60fps 4:2:2 8-bit, compatible with all NDI-enabled software and hardware receivers.
  • HDMI 1.4 / DVI-D Input — Accepts HDMI and DVI-D signals with RGB, YUV BT.601/709/2020 color spaces and up to 8 channels of IEC60958 embedded audio.
  • Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) — Draws power directly from the network switch, eliminating the need for a separate power supply at the installation point.
  • PTZ Camera Control — Controls PTZ cameras using VISCA, Visca UDP, Visca UDP2rs232, PELCO-P, and PELCO-D protocols via NDI, with the physical port shared with the tally light connection.
  • Web GUI Management — Browser-based configuration interface accessible over HTTPS supports device status monitoring, input processing settings (deinterlacing, EDID, scaling, frame rate, aspect ratio), and firmware updates.
  • Cross-Segment NDI Routing — Supports sending NDI streams across routed network segments for multi-VLAN enterprise and campus deployments.
  • Control System Plugins — Native Crestron SIMPL+ modules and Q-SYS plugin enable straightforward integration into automation and DSP control systems.
  • Flexible Frame Rate Output — Outputs at the original frame rate or 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 of the input frame rate to match downstream production requirements.
  • Compact Form Factor with Mounting Options — Measures 100.9mm x 60.2mm x 23.3mm with a 1/4-20 threaded mounting hole, L-bracket, and optional 3D-printable fishtail bracket for camera or surface mounting.
  • HTTP API for Custom Integration — Open HTTP-based API allows custom software integration for monitoring, control, and automation workflows.
