What is the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to SDI decoder?
The Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to SDI is a standalone IP video decoder that turns NDI and network streams into a 3G-SDI signal for broadcast, production and distribution equipment. It decodes NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX, HX2 and HX3 as well as SRT, RTSP, RTMP, HLS, HTTP and MPEG-TS at up to 2K60, outputs SDI up to 1080p60 and carries native CEA-608 captions. It links IP-based sources to SDI switchers, recorders, routers and monitors.
How does the Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to SDI work?
The decoder discovers NDI sources across network segments and decodes the selected stream with SpeedHQ, H.264 or H.265 video and AAC or MP3 audio. It outputs SD, HD or 3G-SDI up to 1920×1080 60p with eight channels of 48 kHz audio, drives 3G-SDI over cable runs beyond 100 m, and passes native CEA-608 and 608-over-708 captions for accessible broadcast output. Image flip and safe-area controls help with projector and monitor installs.
It is set up through its web interface, on-board menu buttons, a USB keyboard and mouse, Magewell Control Hub or HTTP APIs, and powers from 802.3af PoE or its 5 V supply. Magewell publishes Q-SYS and Crestron plugins for the decoder so a control system can select sources from a touch panel.
