What is the Magewell Pro Convert SDI TX NDI encoder?
The Magewell Pro Convert SDI TX is a compact standalone 3G-SDI to NDI encoder that converts one SDI camera or feed into a full-bandwidth NDI High Bandwidth stream. It accepts SD, HD and 3G-SDI up to 2048×1080 60p with 16 channels of embedded audio. As the transmit-only member of the Pro Convert family, it is the lowest-cost way to put an SDI source onto an NDI network when no SDI loop-through is needed.
How does the Magewell Pro Convert SDI TX work?
The encoder accepts SD, HD and 3G-SDI (Level A and B) up to 2K60 over cable runs up to 180 m and encodes it as NDI High Bandwidth at up to 2048×1080 60p, carrying all 16 channels of SDI-embedded audio into the stream. It supports HDR HLG and can output a native or custom resolution or a reduced frame rate. Unlike the Pro Convert SDI Plus, it has no loop-through output, so it is the end point of the SDI run.
Any NDI receiver can use the source directly, including NDI Studio Monitor, vMix, OBS, switchers and decoders. The encoder is managed through its web interface, Magewell Control Hub or HTTP APIs and is powered by its 5 V supply or PoE. Magewell publishes Q-SYS and Crestron plugins for the Pro Convert encoders, so a room control system can monitor it.
